حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو بن دينار ، قال: اخبرني عطاء بن ابي رباح ، عن صفوان بن يعلى ، عن ابيه ، قال: سمعت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرا على المنبر: " ونادوا يا مالك سورة الزخرف آية 77" .
Safwan bin Ya'la narrates from his father: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) reciting these verses on the pulpit: «وَنَادَوْا يَا مَالِكُ» (43-az-Zukhruf:77) "And they will call out: O Malik!"

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ابن جريج ، عن عطاء ، عن صفوان بن يعلى ، عن ابيه ، قال: غزوت مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم غزوة تبوك، فحملت فيها على بكر، وكان اوثق عملي في نفسي، فاستاجرت اجيرا، فقاتل رجلا، فعض على يده، فانتزعها من فيه، فاندر ثنيته، فاتى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال:" ايدعها في فيك تقضمها قضم الفحل؟"، واهدرها ,
Safwan bin Ya'la narrates from his father: I participated in the Battle of Tabuk with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). In this battle, I gave a young camel in the way of Allah, which I considered my best deed. I had employed a man, and he got into a fight with another person. He bit the other person's hand, so the second man pulled his hand out of his mouth, causing the first man's front teeth to fall out. He came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Would he have left his hand in your mouth so that you could chew it like a camel chews?" So the Prophet (peace be upon him) declared his loss void.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو ، عن عطاء ، ان اجيرا ليعلى ، ولم يسنده، وكان سفيان ربما ضمهما فادرج فيه الإسناد، فإذا فصلهما جعل حديث ابن جريج مسندا، وجعل حديث عمرو مرسلا.
This narration has been reported by Ata with a chain of transmission, but he did not mention its chain. The narrator named Sufyan sometimes mentions both these narrations together and includes them in the same chain, but when he transmits these two narrations separately, he narrates the one transmitted from Ibn Jurayj as a "Musnad" narration, and the one transmitted from 'Amr as a "Mursal" narration.

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو ، قال: اخبرني عطاء ، قال: اخبرني صفوان بن يعلى ، عن ابيه ، قال: كنا مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بالجعرانة، فاتاه رجل وعليه مقطعة يعني جبة وهو متضمخ بالخلوق، فقال: يا رسول الله إني احرمت بالعمرة وهذه علي، فقال له النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:" ما كنت تصنع في حجك؟" , فقال: كنت اغسل هذا الخلوق، وانزع هذه المقطعة، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم:" ما كنت صانعا في حجك فاصنعه في عمرتك" .
Safwan bin Ya'la narrates from his father: We were with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) at the place of Ja'ranah. A man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He was wearing a cloak and was drenched in perfume. He said: O Messenger of Allah! I have entered into the state of Ihram for Umrah and I am wearing this. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "If you had intended Hajj, what would you have done?" He replied: Then I would have washed off this perfume and taken off this cloak (and worn unstitched clothes). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whatever you would have done for your Hajj, do the same for your Umrah."

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا ابن جريج ، عن عطاء ، عن صفوان بن يعلى ، عن ابيه ، قال: قلت لعمر بن الخطاب: إني اشتهي ان ارى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا نزل عليه الوحي، قال: فبينا انا بالجعرانة إذ دعاني عمر، فاتيت فإذا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم مسجى ثوبا فكشف لي عمر وجهه، فإذا هو محمر وجهه، فلما سري عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قال:" اين السائل؟"، وقد كان جاءه رجل قبل ذلك، وإذا هو متضمخ بالخلوق وعليه مقطعة، فقال: إني احرمت وعلي هذه، فقال السائل: ها انا ذا، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم:" ما كنت تصنع في حجك؟"، قال: كنت اغسل هذا الخلوق، وانزع هذه المقطعة، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: " ما كنت صانعا في حجتك فاصنعه في عمرتك" .
Safwan bin Ya'la narrates from his father: I said to Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him): I wish to see the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time when revelation is being sent down upon him. Sayyiduna Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were present at the place of "Ji'ranah." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) called me. I came to him, and at that time a sheet had been placed over the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) removed the cloth from the face of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and showed me, and the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was turning red. When this state of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ended, he said: Where is the questioner? Before this, a man had come to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He was drenched in perfume and had worn a sewn garment to enter into Ihram. (Sayyiduna Ya'la (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates) That questioner said: Here I am. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What would you do in your Hajj?" He replied: I would wash off the perfume and remove the sewn garment (jubba). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do in your Umrah what you do in your Hajj."
