Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah
140| Chapter on the latecomer catching part of the prayer, following the imam in what he catches, and completing what he missed after the imam finishes
Hadith Number: 1644
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that his father informed him that while we were present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he suddenly heard a commotion and noise. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What has happened to you?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we hurried for the prayer." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not do that. When the prayer is established, do not stand up until you see me, and adopt calmness and tranquility. Then, whatever part of the prayer you catch, perform it, and whatever you miss, complete it."

141| Chapter on the latecomer catching the odd-numbered rak‘ah with the imam and that he does not have to perform the prostration of forgetfulness
Hadith Number: Q1645
In opposition to the statement of those who claim that he must perform the two prostrations of forgetfulness, according to their school in this issue, they would be the two prostrations for deliberate action, not the two prostrations of forgetfulness. This is because the follower only deliberately sits for the odd-numbered unit in his prayer in imitation of his imam, since the imam has an even number, and he has an odd number. And the two prostrations of forgetfulness, according to their principle, are for what a person is obligated to do, not for what he does out of forgetfulness that he is not supposed to do deliberately.

Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that after seeing two things from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I will not ask anyone about them. We were on a journey with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he went to relieve himself. Then he returned, performed ablution, wiped over his forehead and both sides of his turban, and wiped over his leather socks as well. (The second thing is that) it is permissible for the Imam to pray behind someone from his community. I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey, and the time for prayer came, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) could not reach them after relieving himself. The noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) established the prayer and put forward Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), so he had led them in some part of the prayer when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the remainder of the prayer behind Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him). Then, when Ibn Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) finished the prayer with salam, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and completed the missed part of his prayer. This is the narration of Junab al-Dawraqi. Whereas in the narration of Junab Abu Bishr, it is mentioned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to relieve himself and asked for water, so I brought water in a vessel or a water-skin. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was wearing a cloak with tight sleeves, so he took his hands out from under the cloak and performed ablution, wiped over his leather socks, and wiped over his forehead and both sides of his turban. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the people late, and they had already established the prayer. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says: If this hadith is proven with this chain, that is, in the chain of Abu Bishr, Ibn Sirin says:“Amr bin Wahb narrated to me”(that Amr bin Wahb narrated to me, thus he has clearly stated his hearing). But in the chain of Hammad bin Zayd, Ibn Sirin says:“A man known as Abu Abdullah narrated to me from Amr bin Wahb.”(That is, in this chain, between Ibn Sirin and Amr bin Wahb, there is an unknown person named Abu Abdullah.)

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the prayer is established, come to the prayer in a state of calmness and dignity. Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer and (during the recitation) left out a verse, and among the people was Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) as well. (After the prayer) he said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), did you forget such-and-such verse or has it been abrogated?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I forgot it." This is the narration of Bundar, and in the narration of Abu Musa it is mentioned that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while reciting during the prayer, forgot a verse of the Qur'an, and among the worshippers was Sayyiduna Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) as well. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, you forgot such-and-such verse or has it been made to be forgotten (abrogated)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No (it has not been abrogated), rather I forgot it."
