Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade the sale of grain over which possession had not yet been taken. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas said: I consider all things to be under the same ruling. (That is, whatever thing is purchased, it should not be sold before taking possession of it.)

Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): People used to go to the upper side of the market, buy grain, and start selling it right there. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The buyer and the seller both have the option (to cancel the transaction) as long as they have not separated from each other, except in the case of a sale with a stipulated option.

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When two people engage in a sale, both of them have the option (to cancel the sale) as long as they do not separate. This is in the case when both remain in the same place. However, if one says to the other to choose (i.e., decide), and the sale is made on this condition, and both make a final decision regarding the sale, then the sale is concluded at that very moment. Similarly, if both parties separate after the sale and neither of them rejects the sale, then the sale also becomes binding.

Sayyiduna Hakim bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The buyer and the seller have the option (to cancel the sale) as long as they have not separated, or he said: until they both separate. (The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, further said:) So if both speak the truth and clarify everything, there is blessing in their transaction, but if they conceal something or tell a lie, the blessing of their transaction is erased.
