Hazrat Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the injury of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in the battle of Uhud. He replied: The blessed face of the Prophet (peace be upon him) was wounded, his front teeth were broken, and his helmet was broken on his blessed head (which caused wounds on his head). Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was washing the blood, and Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was pouring water. When Fatimah saw that the blood continued to flow, she burned a mat and applied its ashes to the wounds of the Prophet (peace be upon him), which stopped the bleeding.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: It is as if I am seeing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at that moment, describing an incident of a prophet from the Children of Israel. His people beat him and made him bloodied, but that prophet kept wiping away the blood and kept praying: "O Allah! Forgive my people, for they do not know."

Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The wrath of Allah became extremely severe upon the people who did this to their Prophet." He was referring to the breaking of the front blessed teeth. "The wrath of Allah became extremely severe upon the person (Ubayy bin Khalaf) whom His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) killed in the way of Allah."

Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying near the Ka'bah and Abu Jahl and his companions were also sitting there. One of them said to the others, "Is there anyone among you who will bring the entrails of the she-camel that was slaughtered by such-and-such tribe, and when Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) goes into prostration, place it on his back?" Upon hearing this, the most wretched among them got up, brought the entrails, and waited. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went into prostration, he placed the entrails between his shoulders. (Abdullah bin Mas'ud says) I was watching all this but could do nothing. If only I had the power to stop it at that time! Abdullah says that they started laughing and rolling over with laughter, while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in prostration and could not raise his head due to the weight. Eventually, Hazrat Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) came and removed the burden from the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) back and threw it away. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his head and said three times, "O Allah! Seize the Quraysh." This was very hard on those disbelievers that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed them. Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that they believed that any supplication made in this city (Makkah) would surely be accepted. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the name of each one of them individually, "O Allah! Destroy these oppressors: Abu Jahl, Utbah bin Rabi'ah, Shaybah bin Rabi'ah, Walid bin Utbah, Umayyah bin Khalaf, and 'Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ayt." He also mentioned the name of a seventh person, but I do not remember it. By the One in Whose hand is my soul! I saw the very people whose names the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned while cursing, lying dead in the well of Badr.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked, "Has there been any day harder upon you than the day of Uhud?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "I have faced many hardships from your people (the Quraysh), but the most difficult time for me was the day of Aqabah. That was the occasion when I presented myself to (the chief of Ta’if) Kinanah bin ‘Abd Yalil bin ‘Abd Kulal, but he did not accept (Islam) and rejected my invitation. I left there extremely saddened. Then, when I reached Qarn al-Tha‘alib, I regained consciousness. I lifted my head and saw that a piece of cloud was shading me, and I saw that Jibreel (Gabriel), peace be upon him, was in it. He called me and said, 'Allah has heard what your people have said to you and how they have rejected you. Allah has sent the Angel of the Mountains to you, so you may command him as you wish regarding them.' Then the Angel of the Mountains called me, greeted me with peace, and said, 'O Muhammad!' Then he repeated the same thing, 'If you wish, I will bring the two mountains together upon them (so that they will be crushed).' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'Rather, I hope that Allah will bring forth from their descendants those who will worship Allah alone and will not associate anything with Him.'"

Hazrat Jundub bin Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was present on the occasion of a battle and his finger was injured.
Hazrat Jundub bin Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fell ill and for two or three nights he did not get up (for Tahajjud prayer). Then a woman (the wife of Abu Lahab, ‘Auwra’) came and said,“O Muhammad! I think your devil has forsaken you. For two or three nights I have seen that he has not come to you.”Upon this, Allah the Exalted revealed Surah Ad-Duha… that is,“By the morning brightness, and by the night when it grows still, your Lord has not forsaken you, nor is He displeased with you…”to the end.

Hazrat Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) rode on a donkey on which there was a saddle, and underneath it was a velvet sheet made in Fadak. The Prophet (peace be upon him) had seated Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) behind him on the ride. He was going to visit Sa’d bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) of the Banu Harith bin Khazraj, to inquire about his health. This incident took place before the Battle of Badr. The Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by a gathering in which Muslims, idol-worshipping polytheists, and Jews were all present. Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul was also among them. Abdullah bin Rawaha was also present in the gathering. When the dust from the ride reached the gathering, Abdullah bin Ubayy covered his nose with his sheet and said,“Do not scatter dust over us.”Then the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) greeted them with salam and stopped there, dismounted, and invited them towards Allah and recited the Holy Qur’an for them. Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul said,“Sir, I am unable to understand these things. If what you say is true, then do not trouble us by coming to our gatherings. Go to your own house, and tell it to those who come to you.”At this, Ibn Rawaha said,“The Prophet (peace be upon him) should come to our gatherings, for we like it.”Then there was a dispute among the Muslims, polytheists, and Jews over this matter, and it was near that they would have made a move and attacked each other, but the Prophet (peace be upon him) kept calming them down, and when they became quiet, the Prophet (peace be upon him) mounted his ride and went to Sa’d bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him,“Sa’d, have you not heard what Abu Hubab said today?”He was referring to Abdullah bin Ubayy, that he said such and such things. Hazrat Sa’d said,“O Messenger of Allah! Forgive him and overlook it. Allah Almighty has granted you the truth which He intended to grant. The people of this town (Madinah Munawwarah), before your arrival, had agreed to crown him and tie the royal turban on his head, but when Allah Almighty ended that plan because of the truth He granted you, he became jealous of the truth, and that is why he did what you saw.”Thus, the Prophet (peace be upon him) forgave him.

Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that it was suggested to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that it would be better if he visited Abdullah bin Ubayy, the hypocrite. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to him riding on a donkey. The companions were walking with him on foot. The place where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was passing was a barren land. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached him, he (Abdullah) said, "Please stay away, the smell of your donkey has disturbed my mind." Upon this, an Ansari companion said, "By Allah! The donkey of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is more fragrant than you." A man from Abdullah the hypocrite’s tribe became angry at this statement of the companion, and both of them started abusing each other. Then supporters from both sides became agitated, and it escalated to the point of fighting with hands, sticks, and even shoes. Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says, "We learned that this verse was revealed on this occasion: 'If two groups of Muslims fight each other, make peace between them.'"

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said on the day of the Battle of Badr, "Who will go and see what has happened to Abu Jahl?" Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) went to find out and saw that the two sons of Afra had killed him and his body had become cold. He caught hold of his beard and said, "Are you Abu Jahl?" He replied, "Is there any man greater than the one whom his people have killed today?" Or (he said), "You people have killed him."
