بَابُ فِي فَضْلِ يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ
Chapter on the virtue of Friday
Hadith Number: 2695
حدثنا عبد الله حدثني ابي ثنا ابو عامر عبد الملك بن عمرو قال ثنا زهير يعني ابن محمد عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل عن عبد الرحمن بن يزيد الانصاري عن ابي لبابة البدري بن عبد المنذر ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: ((سيد الايام يوم الجمعة واعظمها عند الله تعالى، واعظم عند الله عز وجل من يوم الفطر ويوم الاضحى وفيه خمس خلال: خلق الله فيه آدم، واهبط الله فيه آدم إلى الارض، وفيه توفى الله آدم، وفيه ساعة لا يسال العبد فيها شيئا إلا آتاه الله تبارك وتعالى إياه، مالم يسال حراما وفيه تقوم الساعة، ما من ملك مقرب ولا سماء ولا ارض ولا رياح ولا جبال ولا بحر إلا هن يشفقن من يوم الجمعة))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abul-Laba Badri bin Abd al-Mundhir, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The day of Jumu’ah is the chief and the greatest of days in the sight of Allah Almighty. In fact, it is greater in the sight of Allah than the days of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. There are five characteristics in it: (1) Allah Almighty created Adam (peace be upon him) on this day, (2) on this day He sent him down to the earth, (3) and on this day He caused him to die, (4) in it there is an hour in which, if a servant asks Allah Almighty for anything, He grants it to him, as long as he does not ask for something unlawful, and (5) on this day the Resurrection will be established. This is the reason that the close angels, the heavens, the earth, the winds, the mountains, and the seas—all of them fear the day of Jumu’ah (lest the Resurrection be established on this very Friday).

Hadith Number: 2696
عن سعد بن عبادة رضي الله عنه ان رجلا من الانصار اتى النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم فقال: اخبرنا عن يوم الجمعة، ماذا فيه من الخير؟ قال: ((فيه خمس خلال، …)) فذكر مثله
Sayyiduna Sa’d bin ‘Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that an Ansari came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Tell me about the day of Jumu’ah, what virtues does it have? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It has five virtues, ... . As in the previous narration.

Hadith Number: 2697
عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه انه قال: خرجت إلى الطور فلقيت كعب الاخبار فجلست معه فحدثني عن التوراة وحدثته عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم فكان فيما حدثته ان قلت: إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: ((خير يوم طلعت فيه الشمس يوم الجمعة، فيه خلق آدم وفيه اهبط وفيه توب عليه وفيه مات وفيه تقوم الساعة، وما من دابة إلا وهي مسيخة يوم الجمعة من حين تصبح حتى تطلع الشمس شفقا من الساعة إلا الجن والإنس وفيه ساعة لا يصادفها عبد مسلم وهو يصلي يسال الله شيئا إلا اعطاه إياه))، قال كعب: ذلك في كل سنة مرة، فقلت: بل في كل جمعة، فقرا كعب التوراة، فقال: صدق رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم، قال ابو هريرة: ثم لقيت عبد الله بن سلام فحدثته بمجلسي مع كعب وما حدثته في يوم الجمعة، فقلت له: قال كعب: ذلك في كل سنة يوم، قال عبد الله بن سلام: كذب كعب، ثم قرا كعب التوراة، فقال: بل هي في كل جمعة، قال عبد الله بن سلام: صدق كعب
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I went towards the mountain and met Ka'b al-Ahbar. I sat with him; he narrated to me things from the Torah and I narrated to him the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I also told him that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On this day Adam (peace be upon him) was created, on this day he was sent down (to earth), on this day his repentance was accepted, on this day he passed away, and on this day the Resurrection will be established. On this day, from morning until sunrise, every creature listens attentively out of fear of the Resurrection, except jinn and mankind. On this day there is an hour in which, whatever Muslim prays to Allah Almighty, He grants it to him. Ka'b said: This hour occurs once in a year. I said: Rather, it occurs every Friday. Then Ka'b read the Torah and said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has spoken the truth (it really does occur every Friday). Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Then I met Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him). I told him about my gathering with Ka'b and the discussion about Friday that took place in it, and said that Ka'b said this hour occurs once in a year. Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam said that Ka'b was mistaken. I said: Yes, then he read the Torah and said that indeed it occurs every Friday. Upon hearing this, he said: Ka'b has spoken the truth.

عن عبد الله بن عمرو (بن العاص) عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: ((ما من مسلم يموت يوم الجمعة او ليلة الجمعة إلا وقاه الله فتنة القبر))
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever among the Muslims dies on the day or night of Friday, Allah Almighty will protect him from the trial of the grave.

Hadith Number: 2699
عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قيل للنبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: لاي شيء سمي يوم الجمعة؟ قال: ((لان فيها طبعت طينة ابيك آدم وفيها الصعقة والبعثة وفيها البطشة وفي آخر ثلاث ساعات منها ساعة من دعا الله عز وجل فيها استجيب له))
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): What is the reason for naming Friday as Jumu’ah? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: (It is called Jumu’ah because) on this day the clay of your father Adam (peace be upon him) was created, and on this day will be the Sa’qah (the great blast), the Ba’thah (the resurrection), and the Batshah (the great seizure), and in the last three hours of this day there is an hour in which, whoever supplicates to Allah Almighty, his supplication will be accepted.

Hadith Number: 2700
عن ابي الدرداء رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((يا ابا الدرداء! لا تختص ليلة الجمعة بقيام دون الليالي ولا يوم الجمعة بصيام دون الايام))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Abu Darda’! Do not single out the night of Friday from among other nights for standing (in prayer), nor single out the day of Friday from among other days for fasting.

Section on urging to increase sending blessings upon the Prophet on Friday
Hadith Number: 2701
عن اوس بن ابي اوس رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((من افضل ايامكم يوم الجمعة، فيها خلق آدم وفيها قبض، وفيها النفخة وفيها الصعقة، فاكثروا علي من الصلاة فيها فإن صلاتكم معروضة علي))، فقالوا: يا رسول الله! وكيف تعرض عليك صلاتنا وقد ارمت يعني وقد بليت؟ قال: ((إن الله عز وجل حرم على الارض ان تاكل اجساد الانبياء صلوات الله عليهم))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Aws bin Aws that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The best of days is the day of Friday; on it Adam (peace be upon him) was created and on it he passed away, and on it the blowing of the trumpet will occur. Therefore, send abundant blessings upon me, for your blessings are presented to me. The companions said: O Messenger of Allah! How will our blessings be presented to you when you will have decayed (in the earth)? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Allah Almighty has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets.

Hadith Number: 2702
عن انس بن مالك رضي الله عنه ان النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم كان يقول: ((ليلة الجمعة غراء ويومها ازهر))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The night of Friday is luminous and its day is radiant.

Chapter on what is reported regarding the hour of response and its time on Friday
Hadith Number: 2703
عن ابي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال ابو القاسم صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((إن في الجمعة لساعة لا يوافقها عبد مسلم قائم يصلي يسال الله خيرا إلا اعطاه الله إياه))، وقال بيده قلنا يقللها يزهدها
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Abul Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is an hour on the day of Jumu’ah; any Muslim who asks Allah Almighty for any good during that hour while performing prayer, Allah grants it to him. Then, indicating with his hand, he pointed out the brevity of that hour.

Hadith Number: 2704
عن ابي سعيد الخدري وابي هريرة رضي الله عنهما ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: ((إن في الجمعة ساعة لا يوافقها عبد مسلم، يسال الله عز وجل فيها إلا اعطاه إياه وهي بعد العصر))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri and Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with them, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: There is an hour on Friday during which, whatever a Muslim asks Allah Almighty for, He grants it to him, and this hour is after Asr.
