Abu Ishaq says: I saw a man who asked Aswad bin Yazid, who used to teach the Qur'an in the mosque, and said: How should we recite this verse: {فَہَلْ مِنْ مُدَّکِرٍ} Is it with "dh" or "d"? He replied: No, it is with "d". I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) say, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recite {مُدَّکِرٍ} with "d".

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that a polytheist from the Quraysh came to the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and began to argue with him about destiny. Then these verses were revealed: {یَوْمَ یُسْحَبُوْنَ فِی النَّارِ عَلٰی وُجُوْھِمِ ذُوْقُوْا مَسَّ سَقَرَ۔ اِنَّا کُلَّ شَیْئٍ خَلَقْنَاہٗ بِقَدَرٍ} … The Day when they will be dragged on their faces into the Fire, it will be said to them, "Taste the punishment of Hell." Indeed, We have created everything according to a decree.

It is narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both), she says: I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying facing the Black Stone, and in that prayer he was reciting this verse: {فَبِأَ یِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّکُمَا تُکَذِّبَانِ}. The polytheists were listening attentively, while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had not yet been clearly commanded to preach openly.

It is narrated from Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is not possible that a servant is taken to account on the Day of Judgment and then is also forgiven. A Muslim sees his deeds even in the grave, and Allah the Exalted says: {فَیَوْمَئِذٍ لَا یُسْأَلُ عَنْ ذَنْبِہِ إِنْسٌ وَلَا جَانٌّ } … On that Day, no human and no jinn will be asked about his sins. And He also said: {یُعْرَفُ الْمُجْرِمُونَ بِسِیمَاہُمْ} … The sinners will be recognized only by their appearance.

Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting this verse on the pulpit: {وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّہِ جَنَّتَانِ} … Whoever fears standing before his Lord, for him there are two gardens. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Even if he commits adultery and theft? The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the same verse again. I again said: O Messenger of Allah! Even if he commits adultery and theft? You (peace and blessings be upon him) recited the same verse for the third time: {وَلِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّہِ جَنَّتَانِ}, but I also said for the third time: O Messenger of Allah! Even if he commits adultery and theft? This time you (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes! Even if Abu Darda’s nose becomes dust-covered.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that when this verse was revealed: {ثُلَّۃٌ مِنْ الْأَ وَّلِینَ وَقَلِیلٌ مِنْ الْآخِرِینَ} … (A large group of those who are foremost will be from the former people, and a few from the later people). This was very hard on the Muslims, so these verses were revealed: {ثُلَّۃٌ مِنْ الْأَ وَّلِینَ وَثُلَّۃٌ مِنْ الْآخِرِینَ} … (A multitude from the former people and a large group from the later people). Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: You will be one third of the people of Paradise, rather you will be half of the people of Paradise, and in the remaining half you will also have a share.

Qatadah, while explaining Allah Almighty’s statement {وَظِلٍّ مَمْدُودٍ} … and in extended shades, narrates from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Indeed, in Paradise there is a tree under whose shade a rider will travel for one hundred years, yet he will not be able to cross it.”Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say:“If you wish, recite this statement of Allah Almighty: {وَظِلٍّ مَمْدُودٍ} … and in extended shades.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: {وَفُرُشٍ مَرْفُوعَۃٍ} … and they will be on lofty beds. By the One in Whose hand is my soul: their height will be like the height between the sky and the earth, and the distance between the sky and the earth is five hundred years' journey.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when this verse was revealed: {فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّکَ الْعَظِیْمِ} … "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most Great," the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to adopt its meaning for our bowing (ruku). And when this verse was revealed: {سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّکَ الْاَعْلٰی} … "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High," he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Adopt its meaning for your prostrations (sajdah).
