It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) migrated and arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, they stayed at one side of Harrah and sent word to the Ansar about their arrival. The Ansar came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), greeted both of them, and said,“Ride into the city with peace and tranquility.”So the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) mounted their respective rides, and the people surrounded them with drawn weapons. The news spread in Madinah Munawwarah that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had arrived. So people rushed towards him to see him, and they joyfully kept saying,“The Prophet of Allah has arrived.”As he walked, he reached near the house of Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). The people said that he would start talking to the family of Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him). At that time, Abdullah bin Salam was picking dates for his family in his family’s orchard. He also heard the news of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) arrival, and he came to his service so quickly and hurriedly that he was still carrying the dates. He came and listened to the Prophet’s conversation. After that, he went to his house. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“Whose house among our relatives is the closest to here?”So Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) said,“O Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! This is my house and my door.”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“Alright, go and prepare a place for us.”Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) went and prepared a place for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). He came and said,“O Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I have prepared a place for both of you. Please rise and come with the blessing of Allah’s name and rest.”When the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to his house, Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived and said,“I bear witness that you are truly the Messenger of Allah and have been sent with the call of truth and the religion of truth. The Jews know that I am their chief and the son of their chief, and I am their greatest scholar and the son of their greatest scholar. Call these Jews and ask them about me.”The Jews came, and the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to them,“O Jews! Fear Allah, by Allah, besides whom there is no deity. You certainly know that I am truly the Messenger of Allah, and I have come to you with the religion of truth and the call of truth. Accept Islam.”But they said,“We do not know this.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) migrated, he stayed for fourteen nights in the upper area of Madinah, in the tribe of Banu Amr bin Awf. Afterwards, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a message to the dignitaries of his maternal uncles, the tribe of Banu Najjar. They came adorned with weapons. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: That scene is as if still before my eyes, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is mounted on his ride, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) is behind him, and the group of dignitaries of Banu Najjar is forming a circle around him, until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his belongings in front of the house of Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him). Since the mosque had not yet been built at that time, wherever the time for prayer would come, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would offer prayer there. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would also pray in the sheepfold. After that, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the construction of the mosque and summoned Banu Najjar. When they came, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Banu Najjar! Set a price for this piece of land of yours with me. But they replied: By Allah! We will take its compensation only from Allah. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that there were graves of polytheists in that piece of land, and some fields (and ruins) and some date-palm trees. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered regarding the graves of the polytheists that they be dug up, so they were dug up, and regarding the fields (or ruins), he ordered that they be demolished and leveled, and he ordered the date-palm trees to be cut down, and they were cut down. Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The trunks of the date-palms were set up in a row facing the qiblah to make a wall for the mosque, and stones were stacked for the walls on both sides. The noble Companions would carry these stones and recite this verse, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would also say these words with them: "O Allah! There is no good except the good of the Hereafter, so help the Ansar and the Muhajirin."

Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said: May Allah bless your family and your wealth, but I do not need these things; just show me the way to the market and bazaar. The people showed him the way to the market, and he went there. When he returned, he had some cheese and some ghee with him, which he had earned as profit. After that, on one occasion, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him and there was yellow color on his clothes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is this? He replied: I have married an Ansari woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What did you give her as dowry? He replied: Gold equal to the weight of a date stone. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Hold a wedding feast, even if it is with only one goat.
