It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah Munawwarah, it was a place afflicted with epidemic and the people were suffering from fever. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill. Whenever his fever intensified, he would say: "Every person wakes up among his family, while death is closer to him than the strap of his sandal." Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that when Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) suffered from severe fever, he would say: "If only I could know whether I will ever spend a single night in that valley, where around me would be the grasses called Idhkhir and Jalil, and whether I will ever reach the springs of Majannah, and whether the mountains called Shamah and Jalil will ever appear before me. O Allah! Curse Utbah bin Rabi’ah, Shaybah bin Rabi’ah, and Umayyah bin Khalaf, for they expelled us from Makkah Mukarramah." When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw the distress of these companions, he said: "O Allah! Make Madinah Munawwarah as beloved to us as Makkah Mukarramah, or even more so. And make its climate healthy for us, and bless its Sa’ and Mudd for us, and transfer its fever to Juhfah." Urwah says: The result of this supplication was that any child born in the region of Juhfah would not reach the age of maturity before being struck down by fever.

It is narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) that she became pregnant with Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) in Mecca. She says: When I set out on the migration journey from Mecca, my pregnancy term was complete. I arrived in Madinah Munawwarah and stayed in Quba, and there I gave birth to the child. I brought him to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and placed him in his (peace be upon him) lap. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for dates, chewed them, and put his blessed saliva into the child's mouth. The very first thing to enter his stomach was the blessed saliva of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed tahneek with dates and prayed for blessings for him. In the era of Islam, this was the first child to be born.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married me in the month of Shawwal (before migration) and my marriage was consummated in the month of Shawwal (after migration). So which wife was dearer to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) than me? And Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) liked that the women of her family should be married in the month of Shawwal.

It is narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Umais (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: I prepared Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) when she was being sent to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and a few other women were with me. By Allah! We found no hospitality at the house of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) except a bowl of milk. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank from it and then handed it to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). She felt shy to drink because she was a bride, but we said: Do not return the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) like this, and take the bowl from him. So, she took the bowl hesitantly and drank from it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Give it to your friends. We said: We do not need it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not combine lying and hunger. I said: O Messenger of Allah! If any of us needs something but says,“I do not need it,”will that also be written as a lie? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A lie is written as a lie, and a small lie is written as a small lie.

It is narrated from Shahr bin Hawshab that one day he went to a woman from the tribe of Banu Abd al-Ashhal, Sayyida Asma bint Yazid bin Sakan (may Allah be pleased with her). She presented food before him, so he said that he did not desire to eat. She said: I prepared Umm al-Mu’minin Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) at the time of her marriage when she was being sent to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then I went to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and called him to meet Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). He came and sat beside her. A bowl of milk was presented. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank from it and then gave the remainder to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). She lowered her head and felt shy. Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I scolded Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: Take the bowl from the hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So, she took the bowl and drank a little from it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): Give it to your friend. Sayyida Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I said: O Messenger of Allah! You take it and drink, then grant it to me. So, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the bowl, drank from it, and then handed it to me. She says: I sat down, placed it on my knee, and began to turn it and put my lips on it so that my lips would touch the blessed place where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed his mouth. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed towards the women present with me and said: Give it to them too. They said: We do not need it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not combine lying and hunger. Will you not refrain from saying,“I do not need it”? I said: O mother! I will not say so in the future.

It is narrated from Imam Nafi that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Muslims migrated to Madinah Munawwarah, they used to gather and wait for the time of prayer, and at that time there was no one to give the adhan. One day the companions began to discuss this matter. Some said, "Make a bell like the Christians' bell." Some said, "There should not be a bell, but rather appoint a horn like the Jews have." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Why don't you do it this way: send someone to announce the prayer?" So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Bilal! Get up and announce the prayer."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that in Makkah, two rak‘ahs of prayer were made obligatory. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Madinah Munawwarah, two more rak‘ahs were added to each prayer, except for Maghrib, because it is the odd prayer of the day, and except for Fajr prayer, because its recitation is lengthy. And it was the practice of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that when he set out on a journey, he would perform the prayer as he used to do before.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Jews came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Abul Qasim! We will ask you about five things; if you answer them, we will recognize that you are a true Prophet and we will follow you. You took a covenant from them in the same way that Yaqub (peace be upon him) took a covenant from his sons, when they said that Allah is a witness over what we are saying. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Present your questions.

(1) They said: Tell us the sign of a Prophet. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The eyes of a Prophet sleep, but his heart does not sleep.

(2) They said: Tell us how male and female are created? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The essence of water from man and woman mixes; when the man’s water prevails over the woman’s water, a male is born, and when the woman’s essence of water prevails, a female is born.

(3) They said: Tell us what Yaqub (peace be upon him) made unlawful for himself? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He had the disease of sciatica; only the milk of she-camels suited him, so when he recovered, he made the meat of camels unlawful for himself. They said: You have spoken the truth.

(4) They said: Tell us, what is thunder? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is an angel among the angels of Allah, who is in charge of the clouds. In the hand of this angel is a whip of fire, with which he drives the clouds to the place where Allah has commanded. They said: What is the sound that is heard? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is the sound of that whip. They said: You have spoken the truth.

(5) They said: One thing remains; if you answer it, we will pledge allegiance to you. It is that every Prophet has an angel appointed to him who brings him goodness, that is, revelation. Tell us, who is your angel companion? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jibreel (peace be upon him). This time they said: Jibreel, he brings war, fighting, and punishment; he is our enemy. If you had said Mika’il, who descends with mercy, vegetation, and rain, then it would have been acceptable. At that time, Allah revealed this verse: {قُلْ مَنْ کَانَ عَدُوًّا لِّجِبْرِیْلَ فَاِنَّہ نَزَّلَہ عَلٰی قَلْبِکَ بِاِذْنِ اللّٰہِ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَیْنَیَدَیْہِ وَھُدًی وَّبُشْرٰی لِلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ۔} … Say: Whoever is an enemy to Jibreel, for indeed he has brought it (the Qur’an) down upon your heart by Allah’s permission, confirming what was before it and as guidance and glad tidings for the believers. (Surah Al-Baqarah: 97)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: We asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about monkeys and pigs, whether they are from the transformed descendants of the Jews? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It has never happened that Allah Almighty cursed a people, transformed them, and then let their lineage continue; in fact, this creation existed before they were transformed. Sayyiduna Mahmood bin Lubaid from the tribe of Banu Abdul-Ashhal narrates from Salamah bin Salamah bin Waqsh, who was among the Companions of Badr. He says that a Jew from the tribe of Banu Abdul-Ashhal was our neighbor. A few days before the advent of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), one day he came out of his house and stood in a gathering of the tribe of Abdul-Ashhal. Salamah says: I was the youngest present there that day. I was lying in front of my house, wrapped in a sheet. That Jew mentioned resurrection after death, the Day of Judgment, reckoning, the scale, and Paradise and Hell. He spoke of these things before people who were polytheists and idol worshippers, who did not believe in resurrection after death. They said to him: "What is this? Do you also say that this will happen, and people will be raised in another world after death, where there will be Paradise and Hell, and people will be rewarded for their deeds?" He said: "Yes, by the One by whom oaths are sworn! I would even prefer that there be a great furnace of fire in this world, and people enter it, and then it is closed over them, and I am saved from the fire of Hell tomorrow." The people said to him: "Woe to you, what is its sign?" He pointed towards Makkah and Yemen and said: "A Prophet will be sent from those regions." The people asked him: "When will we be able to see him?" He looked at me—I was the youngest among them—and said: "If this boy lives, he will see him before his life ends." Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "By Allah! Only a few days and nights had passed when Allah sent His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and he was alive among us. So we believed in him, but that Jew disbelieved in him out of hatred and envy. We said to him: 'O so-and-so! Woe to you! Are you not the one who told us about this Prophet and informed us?' He said: 'Yes, of course, but this is not that Prophet.'"
