عن عبد الله بن ثعلبة بن صعير رضي الله عنه ان ابا جهل قال حين التقى القوم اللهم اقطعنا الرحم واتانا بما لا نعرفه فاحنه الغداة فكان المستفتح
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Tha’laba bin Sa’eer (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of Badr, when the disbelievers and the Muslims faced each other, Abu Jahl said:“O Allah! Whichever of us has severed ties of kinship and has brought something to us which we do not recognize, then disgrace him tomorrow morning.”Thus, this very supplication of his became the starting point of victory for the Muslims.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I intended to send a proposal to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding his daughter, but then I thought that I have no wealth, so what should I do? Then I remembered that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) maintains ties of kinship and frequently visits our house, so I sent him this message. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you have anything? I said: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Where is that Hatami armor which I gave you on such and such day? I said: It is with me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Give that to Fatimah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), he sent with her a woolen sheet, a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibers, two hand mills, a water skin, and two pitchers. One day, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her):“My chest has started to ache from bringing water from outside. Allah has sent some captives to your father, so go and ask him for a servant.”She replied,“By Allah! My condition is such that my hands have become calloused from turning the millstone so much.”Thus, Sayyidah Fatimah went to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He asked,“Daughter! What brings you here?”She replied,“I have only come to greet you,”and felt shy to ask for anything. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) asked,“What happened?”She replied,“Out of shyness, I could not ask him for anything.”Then both of us went to his service. This time, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said,“O Messenger of Allah! By Allah! My chest has started to ache from bringing water from outside,”and Sayyidah (may Allah be pleased with her) said,“My hands have become calloused from turning the millstone. Now Allah has sent captives to you and made you financially comfortable, so please grant us a servant.”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“By Allah! I cannot give you a servant while the people of Suffah are in such a state that their stomachs are twisting from hunger, and I do not have enough to spend on them. As for these captives, I will sell them and spend the proceeds on the people of Suffah.”Hearing this, both of them returned. Later, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to them at a time when they had already entered their sheet, and the condition of the sheet was such that if it covered their heads, their feet would be exposed, and if they covered their feet, their heads would be exposed. When they tried to sit up, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“No matter, remain in your place.”Then he said,“Shall I not tell you something better than what you asked for?”Both said,“Certainly, certainly.”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“They are some words which Jibril (peace be upon him) taught me.”He said,“After every prayer, say Subhan Allah ten times, Alhamdulillah ten times, and Allahu Akbar ten times, and when you go to bed, say Subhan Allah thirty-three times, Alhamdulillah thirty-three times, and Allahu Akbar thirty-four times.”Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says,“Since the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me these words, I have never abandoned them.”Upon hearing this, Abdullah bin Kawa’ asked Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him),“Did you not abandon them even on the night of the Battle of Siffin?”Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) replied,“O people of Iraq! May Allah destroy you. No, not even on the night of Siffin did I abandon this practice.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of Badr, I received a camel from the spoils of war in the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had also given me another camel. One day, I made both camels sit near the door of an Ansari. I wanted to cut some izkhir grass, load it onto them, and take it to sell. With me was a money-changer from Banu Qaynuqa, and I intended to spend the money obtained from this for the wedding feast (walima) of Sayyida Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her). In that house of the Ansari, Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting and drinking wine, when suddenly he got up with a sword, rushed towards the camels, cut off their humps, ripped open their sides, took out their livers, and left. Ibn Jurayj, the narrator, says: I asked my teacher Zuhri what happened to the humps? He said: He also cut them off and took them with him. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Seeing this scene, I became frightened and anxious, and immediately went to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time, Sayyiduna Zayd bin Haritha (may Allah be pleased with him) was also present there. I related the whole incident to you (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) set out from there and went to Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) and expressed their displeasure. Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) turned his gaze and said: You people are only slaves of my father. Hearing this from Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned back and returned. This incident occurred before the prohibition of wine.
