It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qatila (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood among the people on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage and said: "There will be no prophet after me, and there will be no community after my community. So worship your Lord, establish the five prayers, pay zakat, fast in the month (of Ramadan), and obey those in authority over your affairs (i.e., your leaders). You will enter the Paradise of your Lord."

-" اليس قد صام بعده رمضان وصلى بعده ستة آلاف ركعة، وكذا وكذا ركعة لصلاة السنة؟".
Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that there were two men from the branch "Bali" of the tribe Quda'ah. One of them was martyred, and the other died a year after him. Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I saw in a dream that the door of Paradise was opened and the one who died later entered Paradise before the one who was martyred. I was greatly surprised. When morning came, I mentioned this dream, and the matter reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Did he (the one who died later) not fast during Ramadan after the one who was martyred, and did he not offer six thousand (obligatory) prayers and even more supererogatory rak‘ahs in that year?"

While listening to the Noble Qur'an, the angel draws so near that he places his mouth upon the mouth of the worshipper, and whatever verse the worshipper recites, the angel absorbs it within himself."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Charity is due from every joint of each of you; every time you say «سبحان الله» it is charity, and every time you say «الحمدلله» it is charity, and every time you say «لا إله إلا الله» it is charity, and every time you say «الله اكبر» it is charity. Enjoining good is charity, and forbidding evil is charity, and all of these can be replaced by two rak‘ahs that a person prays at the time of Duha."

Yusuf bin Abdullah bin Salam says: I came to Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was suffering from the illness of death. He said to me: O my nephew! What intention or what need has brought you to this city? I said: No purpose except that there was a relationship between you and my father Abdullah bin Salam, (on that basis I have come). Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If I were to lie at this time, it would be very bad. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever performs ablution and performs it well, then prays two or four rak‘ahs and remembers Allah in them well and with humility and devotion, then seeks forgiveness, he will be forgiven." The narrator Suhail was in doubt about the number of rak‘ahs.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever, in a state of intoxication, misses one prayer, it is as if he had the whole world and whatever is in it, and it was taken away from him. And whoever, due to intoxication, misses four prayers, then it is incumbent upon Allah to make him drink «طينة الخبال» ." It was asked, O Messenger of Allah! What is «طينة الخبال» ? He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The pus of the people of Hell."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: In the beginning, the prayers were made obligatory as two rak'ahs each. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Madinah, an equal addition was made to each prayer, except for the Maghrib prayer, as it makes the prayers of the day odd (i.e., an odd number), and except for the Fajr prayer, in which a long recitation is done. And when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) traveled, he would perform the prayers according to the original (two rak'ahs) manner.
