It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was taking the pledge (bay'ah). I said: O Messenger of Allah! Extend your hand so that I may also pledge allegiance to you, and set a condition upon me, for you know best. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I take your pledge that you will worship Allah Almighty, establish prayer, pay zakat, show compassion to the Muslims, and keep away from the polytheists."

Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We were seven, eight, or nine men present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you not give the pledge of allegiance (bay'ah) to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" We said: We have only recently given you our pledge of allegiance. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will you not give the pledge of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" We said: O Messenger of Allah! We have already given you our pledge of allegiance. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (for the third time) said: "Will you not give the pledge of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" So we stretched out our hands for the pledge and said: O Messenger of Allah! We have already given you our pledge of allegiance, so (please clarify) now upon what should we pledge? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That you will worship Allah alone, associate nothing with Him, perform the five prayers, and obey Allah the Exalted." And he said one thing in a low voice: "You will not ask people for anything." I saw that if even the whip of some of those (who pledged allegiance) fell to the ground, they would not ask anyone to pick it up and hand it to them (rather, they would pick it up themselves).

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah! How many prayers has Allah made obligatory upon His servants?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Allah has made five prayers obligatory upon His servants." He said: "O Messenger of Allah! Is there any prayer (obligatory) before or after these?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Allah has made five prayers obligatory upon His servants." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this statement three times. That man swore by Allah and said: "I will neither add to nor decrease from these (five prayers)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If he is truthful (in his claim), he will surely enter Paradise."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, the first thing among the rights of Allah for which people will be called to account will be the prayer, and among the rights of the servants, the first matter to be decided will be concerning blood (i.e., murder)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, the first thing for which a servant will be called to account is the prayer. If it is correct, then the rest of his deeds will also be correct, and if there is deficiency in it, then the rest of his deeds will also be deficient."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah bin Rabi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Allah the Exalted has said: I have made five prayers obligatory upon your Ummah, and I have made it incumbent upon Myself that whoever guards these prayers at their appointed times, I will admit him to Paradise, and whoever does not guard them, then I have no covenant (of forgiveness) with him.”

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Prayer consists of three parts: one third is purification, one third is bowing (ruku'), and one third is prostration (sujood). Whoever performs the prayer as it should be performed, the rest of his deeds will also be accepted, and whoever's prayer is rejected, the rest of his deeds will also be rendered void."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts in Ramadan, performs the five prayers, and performs Hajj to the House of Allah. The narrator says: I do not know whether he (peace be upon him) mentioned zakat or not. Then it is Allah's right to forgive him, whether he migrates in the way of Allah or remains in his birthplace." Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Should I inform the people of this (hadith)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave it, Mu'adh! So that they may continue to do (more) deeds."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Whoever believes in Allah and His Messenger, establishes prayer, and fasts in Ramadan, then it is Allah’s right to admit him into Paradise, whether he strives in Allah’s path or remains in his place of birth.”The Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! Should we not give people the glad tidings (by narrating this hadith)? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“There are one hundred levels in Paradise which Allah has prepared for those who strive in His path. The distance between each two levels is like the distance between the sky and the earth. So when you ask Allah (for Paradise), ask for Jannat al-Firdaws, for it is the best and highest part of Paradise. (I think he also said:) Above it is the Throne of the Most Merciful, and from it spring forth the rivers of Paradise.”
