It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is a hypocrite who is present in my mosque, hears the call to prayer, leaves without necessity, and then does not return."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Satan comes to a person and blows at his backside (i.e., the place of excretion) to cast doubt (in him). (In such a case) a person should not go (to perform ablution) until he hears a sound or perceives a smell."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray on a mat. (One day) he said: "Aisha! Remove this mat of yours, I fear that it may put people into trial (fitnah)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the Fajr prayer, came to the women sitting in the mosque, stood near them and said: "O assembly of women! Give charity. Despite being deficient in intellect and religion, I have not seen anyone more able to overcome a wise man than you women, and on the Day of Resurrection I saw that the majority in Hell were women. Therefore, seek nearness to Allah as much as you can." Among the women was the wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)... The narrator narrated the whole hadith. That woman said: O Messenger of Allah! What is the deficiency in our religion and intellect? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The deficiency in religion that I mentioned is that when any of you menstruates, she refrains from praying by Allah's will (and this causes a deficiency in religion), and the deficiency in intellect is that the testimony of a woman is equal to half the testimony of a man."

Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say:“After sixty years, incompetent people will emerge, (the command of Allah, the Exalted, is:) ‘They neglected the prayer and followed their desires, so they will soon meet destruction.’ (Surah Maryam: 59) Then such incompetent people will come who will recite the Noble Qur’an, but that recitation will not go below their throats (i.e., it will have no effect on them). Three types of people recite the Noble Qur’an: the believer, the hypocrite, and the sinner.”

Hazrat Thabit narrates from Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to our mother Umm Haram (may Allah be pleased with her). We brought dates and ghee to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Put these (dates) back in the bowl and this (ghee) back in the waterskin, for I am fasting." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and led us in two units of voluntary prayer. Umm Haram and Umm Sulaim stood behind us, and he made me stand on his right side, as Thabit has narrated. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in voluntary prayer on a mat. When the prayer was completed, Umm Sulaim said: This is your beloved servant Anas; please supplicate to Allah for him. In response, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed for every good and blessing for him in this world and the Hereafter. Then he said: "O Allah! Increase him in wealth and children, and then bless him in it." Anas says: My daughter told me that there are more than ninety individuals among my descendants, and there was no man among the Ansar who had more wealth than me. Then Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Thabit! I do not possess gold or silver, except for this ring.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while he was praying in the last part of the night. I started praying behind him, so he took my hand, pulled me, and made me stand beside him. When he became engaged in his prayer, I moved back. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) continued praying, and when he finished, he said to me: "What happened to you? I made you stand beside me, yet you moved back?" I said: O Messenger of Allah! Is it befitting for anyone to pray beside you? You are the Messenger of Allah, and Allah the Exalted has granted you so much. (By saying these things) I caused the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to be amazed and astonished, so he supplicated to Allah to increase me in knowledge and understanding. In the narration of Imam Ahmad, there is this addition: Then I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sleep, and the sound of his breathing could be heard. Then Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came and said: O Messenger of Allah! Lead the prayer. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up, led the prayer, and did not perform ablution again.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), he says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): "At what time do you perform the Witr prayer?" He said: "After 'Isha, in the first part of the night." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked (Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him): "And Umar, when do you (perform it)?" He said: "In the last part of the night." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Abu Bakr, you have chosen a cautious practice, and Umar, you have adopted a strong (i.e., difficult) practice."

It is narrated from Abu Tamim Jaishani that Sayyiduna Amr bin Al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) delivered a sermon to the people on Friday and said: Abu Basrah has informed me that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Allah Almighty has granted you an additional prayer, which is Witr. Perform this prayer in the interval between the Isha prayer and the Fajr prayer.”Abu Tamim said: Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) took my hand and went to Abu Basrah (when he reached him, he) asked: Did you hear from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) the hadith that Amr has narrated? Abu Basrah said: (Yes) I heard this hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Agharr Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, morning has come and I have not performed the Witr prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Witr is the prayer of the night." He said: O Messenger of Allah, morning has come and I have not performed the Witr prayer (what should I do now?). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perform the Witr prayer."
