It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Seek the Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of (the month of) Ramadan, and if you are unable to do so, then (let it not happen that) you are overpowered regarding the last seven nights as well."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he says: Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) informed me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to inform about (the exact date of) Laylat al-Qadr. (On the way, he saw that) two Muslim men were arguing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I came out to inform you about Laylat al-Qadr, but so-and-so were arguing, so (its signs or its determination) was taken away because of that. Perhaps this is better for you. Now seek it in the twenty-seventh, twenty-ninth, and twenty-fifth nights."

Narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Laylat al-Qadr occurs on the twenty-seventh or twenty-ninth night; on this night, more angels descend to the earth than the number of pebbles."

Narrated from Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her), she says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) drank water and handed me the remaining water so that I could drink it. I said: I was fasting, but I also disliked returning what was left by you. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If this fast is a make-up for Ramadan, then make it up, and if it is voluntary, then (it is up to you) if you wish, make it up, and if you wish, do not make it up."

Sayyiduna Amir bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Fasting in winter is a free gain.”

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The fasts of my brother Dawud (peace be upon him) are the most virtuous; he would fast one day and break the fast the next day, and when he faced the enemy, he would not flee."

Sayyiduna Kahmas Hilali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When I accepted Islam, I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and informed him about my Islam (and then left). Then I stayed there for a year. But I became thin and my body grew weak. Then I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He looked at the lower part of my body and then at the upper part (i.e., he looked at me carefully to recognize me). I said: Do you not recognize me? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Who are you?" I said: I am Kahmas Hilali. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Why do you look so weak?" He said: After meeting you, I have not broken my fast for a single day nor slept any night. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Who ordered you to put yourself in torment? Observe the fasts of the month of patience and one fast in each month (from the remaining months)." I said: Allow me more (fasts), the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Observe the fasts of the month of patience and two days in each month." He said: Allow me more (because I have strength). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Observe the fasts of the month of patience and three days in each month."

Muawiyah bin Qurrah narrates from his father that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fasting three days every month is like fasting for a lifetime, and also breaking the fast."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that whether traveling or residing, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not abandon fasting on the white days.
