Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah intends good for His servant, He hastens his punishment in this world (i.e., through difficulties and trials, He creates means for the forgiveness of his sins), and when He intends evil for a servant, He withholds his punishment for his sins (in this world), until He gives him his full punishment on the Day of Resurrection."

-" إذا اراد الله بعبد خيرا عسله، فقيل: وما عسله؟ قال: يفتح له عملا صالحا بين يدي موته حتى يرضى عنه من حوله".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Humaq Khuzai (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty intends good for His servant, He grants him a good reputation among the people." Someone asked: How does He grant a good reputation? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "In such a way that He makes good deeds easy for him before his death, until those around him become pleased with him (and thus he becomes renowned for his good name)."

-" إذا خرجت اللعنة من في صاحبها نظرت، فإن وجدت مسلكا في الذي وجهت إليه وإلا عادت إلى الذي خرجت منه".
Iyzar bin Jarwal Hadrami says: Among us there was a man named Abu Umair, who had a bond of brotherhood with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Abdullah used to come and go to his house. One day he came, but Sayyiduna Abu Umair (may Allah be pleased with him) was not at home. He sat with his wife. The wife sent her maidservant for some work, but she delayed in returning. (Because of this) she said: "May Allah curse my maidservant, she has taken too long." Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) went outside and sat at the door. When Sayyiduna Abu Umair (may Allah be pleased with him) returned, he said to him: "You were sitting with your brother's family." He replied: "That is what I did, but she sent the maidservant for some work and she delayed a lot, because of which she cursed her. And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'When a curse is invoked by the one who curses, it is seen whether the person upon whom the curse is invoked is deserving of it. If (he is deserving), then fine, otherwise the curse returns to the one who uttered it.' And I disliked sitting on the path of curses."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you see that a man is being given sustenance in this world despite his evildoings, then (understand that) he is being given respite by Allah Almighty, as mentioned in this verse: «فَلَمَّا نَسُوا مَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرِحُوا بِمَا أُوتُوا أَخَذْنَاهُمْ بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ مُبْلِسُونَ» 'Then, when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of everything, until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were plunged into destruction with deep regret.' He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you do something bad, then do a good deed after it, so that the good deed will erase (the effect of) the bad deed." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Is saying 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no god but Allah) also a good deed?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is the best of all good deeds."
