The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Three (evils) are destructive and three (virtues) are saving. The three destructive evils are: miserliness which is obeyed, desires of the self which are followed, and self-admiration. The three saving virtues are: fear of Allah in private and in public, moderation in poverty and wealth, and justice in anger and pleasure.”This hadith is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abu Awfa, and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them).

Sayyidah Khawlah bint Qais bin Fahd Ansariyyah, who was from the Ansar, says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came one day, and I presented a pot in which there was bread or (a specific) sweet dish. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) put his hand in the pot to eat, and (because the food was hot) his fingers began to burn, due to which he said "Oh!" and then said: "When the son of Adam feels something cold, he says 'Oh!' and when he feels something hot, he also says 'Oh!'"

Sayyiduna Nu’man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Life in congregation is mercy, and life in separation is punishment.”

Abu Ubaid Shuraih Hadrami narrates that when the time of death of Sayyiduna Abu Malik Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) approached, he said: O group of Ash'aris! Let the present people convey my words to the absent ones. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say, "The pleasure of this world is the bitterness of the Hereafter, and the bitterness of this world is the pleasure and sweetness of the Hereafter."

A companion of the Messenger narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty said: O son of Adam! If you stand for Me, I will come to you walking, and if you come to Me walking, I will come to you running."

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah the Mighty and Majestic said: O My servant! I will deal with you according to the assumption you have about Me, and when you remember Me, I am with you."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty said: By My honor! I do not combine two securities nor two fears for My servant. That is, if My servant remained secure from Me in the world (by doing as he pleased), I will make him fearful on the Day of Gathering of the servants. And if he feared Me in the world, I will grant him security on the Day when people are gathered."

Sayyiduna Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man said: By Allah! Allah will not forgive so-and-so. Allah Almighty said: Who is he who swears by Me that I will not forgive so-and-so? I have forgiven him, and (O the one who swore!) I have nullified your deeds."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibreel said to me: I wish you could have seen me at the time when I was taking the black mud of the sea and stuffing it into Pharaoh's mouth, fearing that (Allah's) mercy might reach him."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Lack of patience safeguards every sin."
