Yahya bin ‘Abbad bin ‘Abdullah bin Zubair narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather, that Sayyiduna Hanzalah bin Abu ‘Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) and Abu Sufyan bin Harith confronted each other, and Shaddad bin Aswad killed him (Hanzalah) with a sword. At that time, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“The angels are washing your companion (Hanzalah) (in the state of major ritual impurity).”When the companions inquired about the situation from his wife, she said: When the alarming call was heard, my husband (Hanzalah) was in a state of major ritual impurity, but he responded to the call (for jihad) without performing ghusl (ritual bath). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“That is why the angels are washing him.”

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the scholars are presented before their Lord, Mu'adh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) will be ahead of them by the distance of a stone's throw." This hadith is narrated mursal from Sayyiduna Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), Muhammad ibn Ka'b, Abu 'Awn, and Hasan al-Basri.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The one who knows the most about what Allah has made lawful and unlawful is Mu'adh bin Jabal."

Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Hazrami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "There will come people in my Ummah who will receive reward like the first ones. (Their distinguishing quality will be that) they will forbid evil."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is a tree whose leaves do not fall, the example of the believer is like that tree. Tell me, which tree is it?" The people began to think about the various trees of the forest. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I thought it was the date-palm tree, but I was shy to say it. Eventually, the companions said: O Messenger of Allah! Please explain it yourself. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is the date-palm tree."

Abu Tufail says that I and Amr bin Sula’i came to Sayyiduna Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“This tribe of Mudar will put every servant of Allah to trial and will continue to be a cause of his destruction, until Allah seizes it through the armies of His servants and humiliates it in such a way that it will not be able to save even the tail of a she-camel.”

Sayyiduna Safinah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we were on a journey in the company of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Whenever a man would get tired, he would place his clothes, shield, sword, etc., on me, until many things gathered upon me to carry. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are «سفينه» (i.e., a ship)."

The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Abbas is the uncle of the Messenger of Allah, and an uncle is a type of father." This hadith has been narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, Sayyiduna Hasan bin Muslim Makki, Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib, and Sayyiduna Abdul Muttalib bin Rabee'ah bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with them).

Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said about Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him):“This is Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib, the most generous and the one who maintains the ties of kinship the most among the Quraysh.”

Lady Umm al-Fadl bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while he was in the Hatim. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: "Umm al-Fadl!" I said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You have conceived a child." I said: How can this be, when the Quraysh have sworn that women will not bear children? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It will be as I have said. When the child is born, bring him to me." When the child was born, she brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he named him Abdullah, put his blessed saliva in his mouth, and said: "Take him, you will find him intelligent." She says: I went to Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and told him the whole story. He put on his clothes and came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He was a handsome and tall man. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw him, he stood up towards him, kissed his forehead, and seated him on his right side. Then he said: "This is my uncle; whoever wishes, let him take pride in his uncle." Sayyiduna Abbas said: O Messenger of Allah! Do not praise me so much. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Why should I not say this, when you are my uncle, a sign of my forefathers, and an uncle is like a father."
