Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked about the Hour (Day of Judgment). In response, he recited this verse: "Its knowledge is only with my Lord. None will reveal its time except Him." (Surah Al-A'raf: 187) Then he said: "However, I will inform you of its signs and the matters that will occur before it. Before it, there will be tribulation (fitnah) and killing (harj)." The Companions said: We know the meaning of tribulation, but what is meant by harj? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "It is a word from the Abyssinian language; it means 'killing.' And (before the Hour) there will be estrangement among people; no one will recognize anyone else."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him and said:“O Messenger of Allah! I will ask you about three things, only a Prophet knows them.”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Ask.”He said:“What is the first sign of the Hour? What will be the first thing the people of Paradise will eat? And how does a child resemble his father or his mother?”The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Jibreel (peace be upon him) has just informed me of these matters.”He said:“That angel is the enemy of the Jews.”Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“The first sign of the Hour will be that a fire will emerge from the east and will gather the people towards the west. The first thing the people of Paradise will eat will be the extra lobe of the fish’s liver. As for the resemblance of a child to his father or mother: when the man’s semen precedes the woman’s fluid, the child will resemble him, and when the woman’s fluid overcomes the man’s, the child will resemble her.”Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam said:“I bear witness that Allah alone is the Truth and you are the Messenger of Allah.”He further said:“O Messenger of Allah! Indeed, the Jews are a people of slander; when they find out about my Islam, they will accuse me falsely. Please do this: call them and ask them about me in this way: ‘Who and what is this son of Salam among you?’”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called them and asked:“Who and what is Abdullah bin Salam among you?”They said:“He is the best among us and the son of the best among us, a scholar and the son of a scholar, and a great jurist.”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked them:“If he becomes Muslim, will you also become Muslim?”They said:“May Allah protect him from doing such a thing.”At that moment, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) came out and said:“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah.”Upon hearing this, they began to say:“He is the worst among us and the son of the worst among us, ignorant and the son of an ignorant man.”Ibn Salam said:“This is what I was afraid of.”

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon, before the Day of Resurrection, a fire will emerge from the sea of Hadramaut; it will gather the people." The companions asked: "O Messenger of Allah! (At such a time) what do you command us to do?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Adhere to Sham (Greater Syria)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Jubairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been sent close to the Hour (Day of Judgment)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "When will the Hour (Day of Judgment) be established?" At that time, a child from the Ansar named Muhammad was present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) replied to him: "If this child lives, it is possible that the Hour will be established before he becomes old." This hadith is also narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“I and the Hour have been sent like these two fingers, close to each other.”Then he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) joined his index and middle fingers together (to illustrate). He also said:“The example of me and the Hour is like two horses running in a race (that are close to each other).”Then he said:“The example of me and the Hour is like a man whom people sent ahead as a scout; he feared that the enemy might reach before him, so he waved a cloth and said: ‘You have come before the enemies, you have come before the enemies, here I am, here I am.’”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "People will be gathered in three states: those who desire (good) and those who fear (evil); two men on one camel, three men on one camel, four men on one camel, and ten men on one camel will come riding. The rest of the people will be gathered by fire; wherever they take a nap, it will take a nap there; wherever they spend the night, it will spend the night there; wherever they wake up in the morning, it will wake up there; and wherever they spend the evening, it will spend the evening there."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“(Among the major signs of the Day of Judgment) the very first sign is the rising of the sun from the west.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“When three signs (of the Day of Judgment) appear, then «لَا يَنْفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَانُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ آمَنَتْ مِنْ قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِي إِيمَانِهَا خَيْرًا» (6-al-An’am:158) the faith of a person will not benefit him who had not believed before, or who had not earned any good through his faith.”(Those three signs are:) the rising of the sun from the west, the Dajjal, and the Beast of the earth.”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A beast will emerge, it will put a mark on the people's noses, and they will live long lives, to the extent that a man will buy a camel. When another person asks him, 'From whom did you buy this camel?' he will reply, 'I bought it from one of the marked people.'"
