Sins are from ignorance, not disbelief without shirk
Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I abused a person (who was my slave), that is, I taunted him about his mother. (This news) reached the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: "O Abu Dharr! Did you taunt him about his mother? Indeed, you are a person in whom there is still some (remnant) of ignorance (jahiliyyah). Your slaves are your brothers. Allah has placed them under your authority. So, whoever has his brother under his authority, he should feed him what he himself eats and clothe him with what he himself wears, and (listen) do not make them do work that is too difficult for them, and if you do assign them such a task, then help them with it yourself."
If two Muslim groups fight, reconcile them
Narrated Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "When two Muslims meet each other with their swords (i.e., fight), both the killer and the one killed are in Hellfire." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! (It is understandable) for the killer, but what about the one who is killed?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "(It is because) he was eager to kill his companion."
One injustice less than another
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "When this verse was revealed: 'Those who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice...' (Al-An'am: 82), the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) became very worried and said, 'Who among us has not committed injustice?' So Allah, the Most Great and Exalted, revealed this verse: 'Indeed, associating partners with Allah is a great injustice.' (Luqman: 13)."
Signs of a hypocrite
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "There are three characteristics of a hypocrite: (1) When he speaks, he lies; (2) When he makes a promise, he breaks it; (3) When something is entrusted to him, he betrays the trust."
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Whoever possesses four traits is a pure hypocrite, and whoever has one of these four traits has a trait of hypocrisy until he gives it up. (These four traits are:) (1) When entrusted, he betrays the trust; (2) When he speaks, he lies; (3) When he makes a promise, he breaks it; (4) When he quarrels, he behaves in an obscene manner.”
Standing in worship on Laylat al-Qadr is faith
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever stands (in prayer) in the Night of Qadr out of faith and seeking reward, all his past sins will be forgiven.
Jihad in Allah’s path is faith
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "Allah guarantees for the person who goes out in His path (for jihad), and nothing drove him out except faith in Allah and belief in His messengers, that either I (i.e., Allah) will return him with the reward and (war) booty that he obtained in jihad, or I will admit him into Paradise (as a martyr). And (the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said) if I did not find it hard for my ummah, I would never stay behind from any expedition (i.e., a battle in which the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, did not participate), and I (i.e., the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) certainly love that I be killed in the path of Allah, then brought back to life, then killed again, then brought back to life, then killed again."
Taraweeh in Ramadan is faith
Narrated from Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever stands (in prayer) in Ramadan, with faith and seeking reward, all his past sins will be forgiven.
Fasting Ramadan with belief in reward is faith
Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever fasts during the month of Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, all his past sins will be forgiven.
Islam is an easy religion
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Religion is very easy, and whoever makes religion hard upon himself will be overpowered by it. (As a result, he will not be able to bear the self-imposed hardship.) So, adopt the right and moderate way, and remain close (to one another), and rejoice (that you have been given such an easy religion), and gain strength by worshipping in the morning, after noon, and for a while at night.
