Establishing prayer is faith
Narrated from Sayyiduna Bara bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) migrated to Madinah, he first stayed with his maternal or paternal relatives who were from the Ansar. After arriving in Madinah, the Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed facing Bayt al-Maqdis for sixteen or seventeen months, but he preferred that his Qiblah be towards the Ka'bah (and so it happened). The very first prayer that the Prophet (peace be upon him) offered facing the Ka'bah was the 'Asr prayer, and some people joined him in that prayer. One of them left and passed by a mosque where he saw people praying facing Bayt al-Maqdis, so he said, "I bear witness before Allah that I have prayed with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) facing Makkah." (Upon hearing this) those people turned towards the Ka'bah in the same state they were in. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to pray facing Bayt al-Maqdis, the Jews and all the People of the Book were very pleased, but when the Prophet (peace be upon him) turned his face towards the Ka'bah, it was very displeasing to them.
Virtue of good Islam
Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: When a person becomes a Muslim and his Islam becomes good (excellent and strong), Allah Almighty forgives all the sins he had committed before. After that, the reckoning begins: a good deed is rewarded from ten times up to seven hundred times, and a bad deed is recorded as it is, unless Allah Almighty pardons it.
Most beloved deeds to Allah are consistent
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that (once) the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to her and (saw that) there was a woman (sitting) with her. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked:“Who is this?”Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) replied that this is such-and-such woman (and) began to mention the abundance of her prayers. So the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“Stop (look), take upon yourselves only as much (acts) as you are able to do (consistently), for Allah does not tire (of giving reward) until you tire (of worship), and the most beloved deed to Allah is that which is done regularly by its doer.”
Faith increases and decreases
Narrated by Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "Whoever says 'La ilaha illallah' and in his heart there is goodness (i.e., faith) equal to a grain of barley, he will come out of Hell. Whoever says 'La ilaha illallah' and in his heart there is goodness (i.e., faith) equal to a grain of wheat, he will come out of Hell. And whoever says 'La ilaha illallah' and in his heart there is goodness (i.e., faith) equal to the smallest particle, he will come out of Hell."
It is narrated from Amir al-Mu'minin Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Jew said to him, "O Amir al-Mu'minin! There is an ayah in your Book (i.e., the Qur'an) which you recite. If it had been revealed to us, that is, to the Jews, we would have taken the day (on which it was revealed) as a festival." Amir al-Mu'minin asked, "Which ayah is that?" The Jew replied, "This ayah: 'Today I (Allah) have perfected your religion for you, completed My favor upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.' (Al-Ma'idah: 3)" Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Indeed, we remember the day and the place in which this ayah was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace be upon him) was standing in 'Arafah on that day, and it was a Friday."
Paying zakat is part of Islam
Narrated from Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaidullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from Najd, disheveled in appearance, came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). We could hear the humming of his voice but could not understand what he was saying. When he came closer, (we found out that) he was asking the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about Islam. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are five prayers in the day and night. The man asked: Is there any prayer obligatory upon me other than these? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, except if you do something voluntarily (nafl). (Then) the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: And fasting in the month of Ramadan. He asked: Is there any other fasting obligatory upon me besides this? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, except if you do it voluntarily. (Sayyiduna Talhah, may Allah be pleased with him, says) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also mentioned zakat to him. He asked: Is there any charity obligatory upon me other than this? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: No, except if you give voluntarily. Sayyiduna Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that then the man turned away saying: By Allah! I will neither add to these (mentioned obligations) nor decrease from them. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If he is speaking the truth, he will be successful.
Following funeral is faith
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever follows the funeral of a Muslim out of faith and seeking reward, and remains with it until the funeral prayer is offered and the burial is completed, he returns with two qirats of reward, and each qirat is like (the mountain of) Uhud. And whoever offers the funeral prayer and returns before the burial, he returns with one qirat of reward.
Believer fears his deeds may be wasted unknowingly
Narrated by Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Abusing a Muslim is wickedness and fighting him is disbelief.
Narrated Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out (once) to inform the people about the (exact) Night of Qadr, but (coincidentally at that time) two Muslims were fighting with each other. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I came out to inform you about the (exact) Night of Qadr, but since so-and-so and so-and-so were fighting, (the definite knowledge of it) was taken away (from the world), and perhaps this is better for you. (Now) seek the Night of Qadr in the twenty-seventh, twenty-ninth, and twenty-fifth (nights) of Ramadan.
Jibril asked Prophet about faith, Islam, ihsan, and the Hour
`Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one day the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was sitting before the people when suddenly a man came before him and asked (him), "What is faith?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "Faith is that you believe in Allah, and in His angels, and in His books, and in (the Hereafter) meeting Allah, and in Allah's messengers, and you have certainty in the Day of Judgment." (Then) that man asked, "What is Islam?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "Islam is that you worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him, and you establish prayer, and pay the obligatory zakat, and fast in Ramadan." (Then) that man asked, "What is Ihsan?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "Ihsan is that you worship Allah (with such humility, devotion, and sincerity) as if you are seeing Him, and if you do not achieve this state that you see Him, then (at least) know that He surely sees you." Then that man asked, "When will the Hour (Day of Judgment) be?" In reply, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The one being asked does not know more about it than the questioner (rather, both are equally unaware)." "However, I will tell you its signs: (1) When a slave woman gives birth to her master, and (2) when the barefooted, naked, destitute shepherds compete in constructing tall buildings, then know that the Hour is near. And the knowledge of the Hour is among those five things which none knows except Allah." Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited the entire verse: "Indeed, with Allah alone is the knowledge of the Hour..." (Luqman: 34). After that, the man left, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said (to the noble Companions, may Allah be pleased with them): "Bring him back to me." (So the people went to bring him back) but found no one there. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "That was Jibreel (Gabriel, peace be upon him); he came to teach the people their religion."
