Virtue of congregational prayer
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The prayer in congregation is twenty-seven degrees superior (in reward) to the prayer offered alone."
Virtue of Fajr in congregation
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "The prayer in congregation is twenty-five times superior (in reward) to the prayer of anyone of you alone. And the angels of the night and the angels of the day gather at the Fajr prayer." After that, Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: If you wish, recite this verse: "Indeed, the recitation of the Qur'an at dawn is ever witnessed (i.e., attended by the angels)." (Bani Isra'il: 78)
Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among all people, those who will have the greatest reward for prayer are those whose distance (from the mosque) is the farthest, then those who are farther than them. And the person who waits for the prayer until he prays it with the Imam, in terms of reward, is greater than the one who prays quickly and goes to sleep."
Virtue of praying Zuhr at its earliest time
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "A man was walking on a path when he saw a branch of thorns lying on the road, so he removed it. Allah Almighty rewarded him for this by forgiving him." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are five types of martyrs: the one who dies of plague, the one who dies of a stomach illness, the one who drowns, the one who is crushed to death, and the one who is martyred in the way of Allah." The rest of the hadith has already passed (see the Book: The Statement of Adhan... Chapter: Drawing lots regarding Adhan...).
Reward for every step to mosque
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Banu Salamah wanted to leave their houses and settle somewhere near the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked the idea of making Madinah deserted. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Banu Salamah! Do you not consider there to be reward in your footsteps (when you walk to the mosque)?"
Virtue of Isha in congregation
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No prayer is heavier upon the hypocrites than the Fajr and Isha prayers, and if they knew what (reward) lies in them (offering these prayers at their proper times), they would surely come to them even if they had to crawl on their knees."
Sitting in mosque waiting for prayer and virtue of mosques
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "There are seven types of people whom Allah will grant shade under His shade on the Day when there will be no shade except His shade: (1) a just ruler, (2) a youth who grows up in the worship of his Lord, (3) a person whose heart is attached to the mosques, (4) two persons who love each other for the sake of Allah, meeting for His sake and parting for His sake, (5) a man whom a woman of status and beauty invites (to commit adultery) but he says, 'I fear Allah (so I cannot come),' (6) a person who gives charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand spends, (7) and a person who remembers Allah in solitude and his eyes become filled with tears."
Virtue of going to mosque morning and evening
Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said: "Whoever goes to the mosque morning and evening, Allah will prepare for him a hospitality in Paradise every time he goes morning and evening."
No prayer after iqamah except obligatory prayer
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Malik bin Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him), who belonged to the tribe of Azd: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man performing two (2) rak‘ahs of prayer after the iqamah had been pronounced. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished (the prayer), the people gathered around that man. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Are there four rak‘ahs in the morning prayer? Are there four rak‘ahs in the morning prayer?"
How sick must a patient be to be excused from attending congregation?
Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was afflicted with the illness in which he passed away, and the time for prayer came and the call to prayer was given, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“Tell Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to lead the people in prayer.”It was submitted to him (Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, herself submitted) that Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) is a soft-hearted man, so when he stands in your place, (due to the intensity of grief) he will not be able to lead the prayer. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said again, but the same was submitted again. The third time, the Prophet (peace be upon him) again gave the command and said:“You are like the women who were companions of Yusuf (peace be upon him). Tell Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to lead the people in prayer.”So (it was conveyed and) Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) went to lead the prayer. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) felt some relief in himself, so he came out supported by two men, as if I (even now) am looking at the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) feet, that due to the weakness of illness, they were dragging on the ground. So, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) wanted to step back, but the Prophet (peace be upon him) gestured to him to remain in his place. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) was brought until he sat beside Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace be upon him) would pray, and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) would follow the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) prayer, and the people would follow Abu Bakr’s (may Allah be pleased with him) prayer. In one narration, it is mentioned that the Prophet (peace be upon him) sat on the left side of Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) stood and led the prayer.
