Fasting in Sha'ban.
Narrated from Ummul Momineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) did not observe (supererogatory) fasts in any month more than in Sha’ban; rather, it seemed as if he spent almost the whole of Sha’ban fasting. She further says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say:“O people! Take upon yourselves only as much worship as you can bear, for Allah does not tire (of giving reward) until you tire (of worship), and the best prayer in the sight of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was that which was performed regularly, even if it was little. And whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed a prayer, he would make it regular.”

Mention of the Prophet fasting and not fasting.
Sayedna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about the fasting of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so he replied: Whenever I wished to see the Prophet (peace be upon him) fasting in any month, I would see him fasting, and whenever I wished to see him not fasting, I would see him not fasting. And whenever I wished to see him praying at night, I would see him praying, and whenever I wished to see him sleeping (at night), I would see him sleeping. And I have never touched any cloth of fur or silk softer than the blessed hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), nor have I ever found musk or ambergris more fragrant than the scent (of sweat) of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).

Considering the body's rights when fasting.
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates in this narration that when Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) became old, he used to say: "Alas! If only I had accepted the permission of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (to fast three days in every month)."

Considering the wife's rights when fasting.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned the fast of Dawud (peace be upon him) and said: "He would fast one day and not fast the next day, and when he faced the enemy in the battlefield, he would not flee." Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Is there anyone who can take responsibility for this (i.e., this practice of Dawud, peace be upon him) on my behalf (i.e., so that I may also do this)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts continuously has not really fasted." He said this twice. (Ata says that he does not know how the mention of perpetual fasting came here, but he remembered that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said this twice.)

Visiting someone while fasting and not breaking the fast there.
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that one day the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Umm Sulaym, so Umm Sulaym placed dates and ghee before him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Put the ghee back in its container and the dates in their vessel, for I am fasting." Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) stood in a corner of the house and performed voluntary prayer, and he supplicated for Umm Sulaym and her household. Umm Sulaym said, "O Messenger of Allah! Have you supplicated only for me?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "And for whom else?" So Umm Sulaym said, "Supplicate for your servant Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) as well." Thus, the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not leave out any good of this world and the Hereafter except that he supplicated for me, in this way: "O Allah! Grant him wealth and children, and bless him." So see, among the Ansar, I am the wealthiest, and my daughter Amina used to narrate that by the time Hajjaj came to Basra, more than one hundred and twenty of my own children had been buried.

Fasting at the end of the month (is it Sunnah?).
Narrated by Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked a man, "O father of so-and-so! Did you not fast at the end of this month?" He replied, "No, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "When you have finished the (Ramadan) fasts, then make up those fasts." In another narration, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Did you not fast two days at the end of Sha'ban?"

Is it allowed to specify certain days for fasting?
It was asked from Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) whether the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to specify certain days for worship. She replied, "No, the worship of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was continuous, and who among you has the strength for what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to have strength for?"
