Mukhtasar Sahih Bukhari
Virtue of jihad and description of battle conditions.
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him):
A man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said, "Tell me of an act of worship that is equal in reward to Jihad." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "I do not find any such act." (Then) the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Can you do this: when a Mujahid goes out (for Jihad), you stand in your mosque (praying) without showing any laziness, and you keep fasting continuously without breaking it?" He said, "Who can do that?"

The best believer is one who strives with his life and wealth in Allah’s way.
Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Who is the best among all people?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "A believer who strives in the way of Allah with his life and his wealth." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked, "Who after him?" He (peace be upon him) said: "A believer who lives in a mountain pass, worshipping Allah and keeping people safe from his harm."
Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever fights in the way of Allah, and Allah knows best who fights in His way, his example is like that of a person who fasts continuously during the day and stands in prayer throughout the night. And Allah has taken it upon Himself that whoever fights in His way, if He causes him to die, He will admit him to Paradise (without reckoning), or He will return him safely with reward and spoils of war."
Ranks of those who strive in Allah’s path differ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Whoever believes in Allah and His Messenger, performs prayer, and fasts in Ramadan, it is Allah’s promise to admit him into Paradise, whether he fights in the path of Allah or remains in the land where he was born.”The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said,“O Messenger of Allah! Should we not make this known among the people?”He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“There are one hundred levels in Paradise which Allah has prepared for those who fight in His path. The distance between each two levels is as great as that between the sky and the earth. So when you ask Allah, ask Him for Al-Firdaus, for it is the best and highest part of Paradise.”I think the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said (after this):“Above it (i.e., Jannat al-Firdaus) is the Throne of the Most Merciful, and from it flow the rivers of Paradise.”
Virtue of walking in Allah’s path morning and evening and a bow-length in Paradise.
Narrated by Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "To go forth in the morning or evening in the way of Allah is better than the whole world and whatever is in it."
Narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, a small place in Paradise, even as much as a bow, is better than all the worldly things upon which the sun rises and sets." And he (peace be upon him) said: "To go out in the morning or evening in the way of Allah is better than all those things upon which the sun rises or sets."
Beautiful wide-eyed maidens (of Paradise).
Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If a woman (i.e., a Hoor) from among the people of Paradise were to look down upon the people of the earth, she would illuminate all the space between the heaven and the earth and fill it with fragrance, and indeed, the veil on her head is better than the entire world and whatever is in it."
Virtue of one wounded or pierced in Allah’s path.
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent some people from the tribe of Banu Sahm to the tribe of Banu Amir along with seventy men (as ambassadors). When they reached there, my maternal uncle (Haram bin Milhan) said to them, "I will go first. If they grant me security so that I can convey to them the message of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), (that is better); otherwise, stay close to me (and help me at the right time)." So he went ahead, and the disbelievers granted him security. While he was delivering the message of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to them, suddenly they signaled to one of their men, and he struck him with a spear and pierced him through. He said, "Allahu Akbar! By the Lord of the Ka'bah! I have succeeded (in my purpose)." After that, they turned towards his remaining companions and killed them, except for one lame man who climbed up a mountain and survived. Then Jibreel (peace be upon him) informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that those people (who had been sent as ambassadors) had all met their Lord, and He is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. Then we used to recite this verse in the Qur'an: "Convey to our people that we have met our Lord, and He is pleased with us, and has made us pleased." After that, this verse was abrogated. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) invoked curses for forty days upon the people of Ril, Dhakwan, Banu Lihyan, and Banu Usayyah, who had disobeyed Allah and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jundub bin Sufyan, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was in a battle when his finger became wounded and bloodied. So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "You are but a finger that has become bloodied, and this calamity you have borne is in the way of Allah."
Virtue of one wounded in Allah’s path.
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, no person will be wounded in the way of Allah—and Allah knows well the one who is wounded in His way—but that he will come on the Day of Resurrection in such a state that the color of his blood will be like the color of blood, but its fragrance will be like the fragrance of musk."
