Women carrying water to men during jihad.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he distributed some sheets among the women of Madinah, and a very fine sheet was left. One of those sitting with him said, "O Commander of the Faithful! Give this sheet to the granddaughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who is in your wedlock." They meant Umm Kulthum bint Ali. So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Umm Sulayt (may Allah be pleased with her) is more deserving of it. She was an Ansari woman. She had pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "On the day of Uhud, she used to bring water skins filled with water for us."

Narrated Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he said:“May the slave of the dirham, the dinar, and the cloak be destroyed; if he is given, he is pleased, and if he is not given, he is displeased. (Such a person) is destroyed and thrown down, and if a thorn pricks him, may no one remove it. Glad tidings to that servant who keeps the reins of his horse in his hand at all times for striving in the way of Allah; his head is covered with dust, his feet are covered with dust; if he is told to stand guard, he stands guard, and if he is appointed at the rear of the army for protection, he remains at the rear. (In short, he obeys whatever order he is given, and due to his poverty, he has no status among the people of the world, to the extent that) if he seeks permission (to visit someone), he is not granted permission, and if he intercedes (for someone), his intercession is not accepted.”

The person who had the most shade among us was the one who had made shade with his cloak. Those who were fasting did not do any work, and those who were not fasting lifted up the water skins, filled them with water, and did all kinds of service and work.
