Prostrations of recitation in the Quran
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite the Qur'an and come to a surah in which there was a verse of prostration, he would perform prostration, and those who were with him would also perform prostration, to the extent that some of us would not find a place to put our foreheads.
Sayyiduna Abu Rafi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I offered the ‘Isha prayer with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and in it he recited“Idha as-samaa’un shaqqat”(the Surah), and performed a prostration in it. (After the prayer) I asked,“What kind of prostration did you perform?”He replied,“I performed this prostration behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I will continue to do it until I meet him.”(Meaning, I will continue to do it for the rest of my life.)
Reciting Qunoot in Fajr prayer
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the recitation in the Fajr prayer, he would (in the second rak‘ah) raise his blessed head from bowing and say:“Sami‘ Allahu liman hamidah, O our Lord! All praise is for You alone.”Then, while still standing, he would say:“O Allah! Rescue Walid bin Walid, Salama bin Hisham, and ‘Ayyash bin Abi Rabi‘ah (all of whom were Muslims in the hands of the disbelievers), and the weak among the believers (i.e., those who were oppressed by the people of Makkah). O Allah, make Your grip severe upon (the tribe of) Mudar. And inflict upon them a famine like that in the time of Yusuf (peace be upon him) (as occurred in Egypt for seven years). O Allah, curse Lihyan, Ri‘l, Dhakwan, and ‘Usayyah (those who disobeyed Allah and His Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him).”Then news reached us that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) abandoned this supplication when the following verse was revealed:“O Prophet! You have no authority in this matter. Allah may accept their repentance or punish them, for they are wrongdoers.”__QUR_N__
Reciting Qunoot in Dhuhr and other prayers
`Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say, "I will lead you in prayer as close as possible to the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." Then Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) would recite Qunoot in Zuhr, Isha, and Fajr, and he would supplicate for the believers and invoke curses upon the disbelievers.`
Reciting Qunoot in Maghrib prayer
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bara’ bin ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite Qunoot in the Fajr and Maghrib prayers.
The two rak‘ahs of Fajr Sunnah
Umm al-Mu’minin Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) says that when dawn would break, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not offer anything except two light rak‘ahs (i.e., the Sunnah of Fajr).
Virtue of Fajr Sunnah
Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The two rak'ahs of Fajr are better than the world and whatever is in it.
Amount of recitation in Fajr Sunnah
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, recited "Qul ya ayyuhal kafirun" and "Qul huwa Allahu ahad" in the Sunnah prayers of Fajr.
Lying down after Fajr Sunnah
Umm al-Mu'mineen Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) says: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) finished offering the Sunnah of Fajr, if I was awake, he would talk to me, otherwise he would lie down.
Remaining seated after Fajr prayer
Simak bin Harb says that I asked Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), "Did you used to sit with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He said, "Yes, very much." Then he said that it was the blessed habit of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he would remain seated in his place of prayer after the morning prayer until the sun rose. Then, when the sun rose, he would stand up. And the people used to talk about the days of ignorance and laugh, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would smile.
