Virtue of Isha and Fajr in congregation.
Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Abi Amrah reports that Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the mosque after Maghrib and sat alone. I went and sat with him. He said, "O my nephew! I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever offers the Isha prayer in congregation, it is as if he has spent half the night in prayer (i.e., he will receive such a reward), and whoever offers the Fajr prayer in congregation, it is as if he has spent the entire night in prayer."

Severe warning for missing Isha and Fajr in congregation.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The ‘Isha and Fajr prayers are very heavy upon the hypocrites. If they knew the reward for them, they would come even if they had to crawl on their knees. And I had intended to order for the prayer to be established, then appoint someone to lead the people in prayer, and I would go with some men carrying bundles of wood to those who did not attend the prayer and burn their houses down. And in another narration, it is added: If a person were to find a meaty bone, he would surely come (i.e., to the prayer).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I intend, regarding those people who do not attend the Friday (prayer), to order a man to lead the people in prayer, then I would go to the houses of those who did not come to Friday and burn them down."

Concession for missing congregation due to excuse.
The hadith of Sayyiduna Itban bin Malik has already been mentioned in the Book of Faith in this chapter (see Hadith: 14).

Command to perform prayer properly and beautifully.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said one day after leading the prayer: "O so-and-so! Why do you not perform your prayer properly? Does the one who prays not see how he is praying? Indeed, he prays for his own benefit. By Allah, I see those behind me just as I see those in front of me."

Praying with moderation and completeness.
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I observed the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and found that his standing, then bowing, then standing after bowing, then prostration, and the sitting between the two prostrations, then the second prostration, and the sitting between the prostration and the salutation—all of these were approximately equal.

'Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says that' Indeed, I do not fall short in praying with you in the manner that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray with us. (Thabit said) Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to do something which I do not see you doing: when he would raise his head from bowing (ruku‘), he would stand straight until someone would say that he has forgotten. And when he would raise his head from prostration (sajdah), he would remain so long that someone would say that he has forgotten. (That is, he would remain for a long time.)

Best prayer is with long standing.
`Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The best prayer among the prayers is the one in which standing is prolonged.

Command for tranquility in prayer.
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us and said: "I see you raising your hands as if they are the tails of unruly horses. Remain calm in prayer." Then, on one occasion, he saw us sitting in circles and said: "Why are you sitting separately?" Then, on another occasion, he said: "Why do you not form rows as the angels form rows in the presence of their Lord?" We asked, "O Messenger of Allah! How do the angels form rows in the presence of their Lord?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "They complete the first rows and stand close together in the row."

Gesturing for salam reply in prayer.
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent me for some task. When I returned and reached him, he (peace be upon him) was riding (his mount). Qutaiba said that he (peace be upon him) was performing (nafl) prayer. I greeted him with salam, and he (peace be upon him) replied by gesture. When he finished the prayer, he called me and said, "You just greeted me with salam, and I was performing prayer (so I could not reply verbally)." Although his face was towards the east (and not towards the qiblah), (from this it is known that while performing nafl prayer on a mount, it is not necessary to face the qiblah).
