Narrated Nafi`: Ibn `Umar used to say about the Ila (which Allah defined (in the Holy Book), "If the period of Ila expires, then the husband has either to retain his wife in a handsome manner or to divorce her as Allah has ordered."

And Ibn al-Musayyib said: When, at the time of battle, a person is lost from the ranks, his wife should wait for him for one year (and then, after that, if she wishes, she may marry another). ‘Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) bought a slave-girl from someone (the original owner went away somewhere without taking the price and got lost), so he searched for her first owner for a year. Then, when he could not find him, he began to give one or two dirhams at a time (from the price of the slave-girl) to the poor, and he prayed: O Allah! This is on behalf of so-and-so (who was her first owner and who got lost without taking the price). Then, if he (after coming back) rejects this charity (and demands the price), its reward will be for me, and the payment of the slave-girl’s price will be obligatory upon me. Ibn Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: In the same way, you should do with luqatah — that is, a thing found lying on the road. Al-Zuhri said about such a captive whose place of residence is known: His wife should not marry another, nor should his wealth be distributed. Then, if news of him ceases, his case becomes like that of one whose whereabouts are unknown.

Ibn `Umar added: "When the period of four months has expired, the husband should be put in prison so that he should divorce his wife, but the divorce does not occur unless the husband himself declares it. This has been mentioned by `Uthman, `Ali, Abu Ad-Darda, `Aisha and twelve other companions of the Prophet ."

Narrated Yazid: (the Maula of Munba'ith) The Prophet was asked regarding the case of a lost sheep. He said, "You should take it, because it is for you, or for your brother, or for the wolf." Then he was asked about a lost camel. He got angry and his face became red and he said (to the questioner), "You have nothing to do with it; it has its feet and its water container with it; it can go on drinking water and eating trees till its owner meets it." And then the Prophet was asked about a Luqata (money found by somebody). He said, "Remember and recognize its tying material and its container, and make public announcement about it for one year. If somebody comes and identifies it (then give it to him), otherwise add it to your property."

And the statement of Allah the Exalted in Surah Al-Mujadilah: "Allah has indeed heard the statement of the woman who disputes with you concerning her husband..." up to the verse «فمن لم يستطع فإطعام ستين مسكينا» . And Isma'il narrated to me, he said: Imam Malik narrated to me that Ibn Shihab was asked about this issue, so he replied that the zihar of a slave is like the zihar of a free man. Imam Malik said that the slave will fast for two consecutive months. Hasan bin Hur said that the zihar of a free man or a slave is the same, whether it is with a free woman or a slave woman. Ikrimah said that if a man makes zihar with his slave woman, it has no significance. Zihar is done with wives, and in the Arabic language, it comes in the meaning of «لام فى» , so the meaning of «يعودون لما قالوا» will be: if he wishes to keep the woman and nullify the statement of zihar. And this translation is better, because Allah has called zihar an evil and a lie, so how could He command to repeat it?

And Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Allah does not punish for the tears of the eye, but He punishes for this—at that time he pointed to his tongue (meaning that wailing is a cause of Allah’s punishment). And Ka‘b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) indicated to me (regarding a debt that someone owed me) to take half (and forgive half). Asma’ (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) was praying the eclipse prayer (when I arrived and) I asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her),“What are the people doing?”Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was also praying, so she pointed with her head towards the sun (indicating that it was the eclipse prayer). I asked,“Is this a sign?”She indicated with her head,“Yes.”And Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) signaled with his hand to Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to move forward. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) signaled with his hand that there was no harm. And Abu Qatadah narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked regarding hunting while in the state of ihram,“Did any of you tell the hunter to hunt, or did any of you point towards it?”The companions replied,“No.”The Prophet (peace be upon him) said,“Then (its meat) eat.”

Narrated Abu Huraira: Abul Qasim (the Prophet) said, "There is an hour (or a moment) of particular significance on Friday. If it happens that a Muslim is offering a prayer and invoking Allah for some good at that very moment, Allah will grant him his request." (The sub-narrator placed the top of his finger on the palm of the other hand between the middle finger and the little one.)

Narrated Anas bin Malik: During the lifetime of Allah's Apostle a Jew attacked a girl and took some silver ornaments she was wearing and crushed her head. Her relative brought her to the Prophet while she was in her last breaths, and she was unable to speak. Allah's Apostle asked her, "Who has hit you? So-and so?", mentioning somebody other than her murderer. She moved her head, indicating denial. The Prophet mentioned another person other than the murderer, and she again moved her head indicating denial. Then he asked, "Was it so-and-so?", mentioning the name of her killer. She nodded, agreeing. Then Allah's Apostle; ordered that the head of that Jew be crushed between two stones.
