Chapter: What to Say in the Morning
Hadith Number: 604
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would enter the morning, he would supplicate:“We have entered the morning for Allah, and all sovereignty belongs to Allah, and all kinds of praise are for Allah, who has no partner. There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and to Him is the resurrection.”And when he would enter the evening, he would supplicate:“We have entered the evening for Allah, and all sovereignty in the evening is for Him. All praise is for Allah alone, He has no partner. There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, and to Him is the return.”

Chapter: Supplicating for Others
Hadith Number: 605
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The noble, son of the noble, son of the noble, son of the noble is Yusuf (Joseph), son of Yaqub (Jacob), son of Ishaq (Isaac), son of Ibrahim (Abraham), the friend of Allah." The narrator says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If I had remained in prison for as long as Yusuf (peace be upon him) did, and then the caller had come to me, I would have accepted his word. When the messenger came to him and said: «ارجع الى ربك» 'Go to your lord and ask him what happened to those women who cut their hands.'” [سورہ یوسف: 50] And may Allah have mercy on Lut (Lot, peace be upon him) when he was compelled to seek refuge with a strong group, at the time when he said to his people: 'If only I had strength to resist you or could take refuge in a strong group.' After him, Allah did not send any prophet whose family and tribe were not powerful." Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) says: «ثروة» means the one who is greatest in number, strength, and defense.

Chapter: Rejected Supplications
Hadith Number: 606
It is narrated from Abdur Rahman bin Yazid (may Allah have mercy on him), he says that Rabi' (may Allah have mercy on him) used to visit Sayyiduna Alqamah on Fridays. If I was not there, he would send a message to me. Once he came and I was not there, then Alqamah met me and said: Do you know what Rabi' brought? And he said: Have you not seen how much people supplicate and how little is accepted! The reason for this is that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, does not accept any supplication except that which is made with sincerity of heart. I said: Did not Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) say this? He said: What did Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) say? He said: Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Allah does not accept the supplication of a fame-seeker, a show-off, or one who is playful. The supplication is accepted of the one who supplicates with firm resolve and heartfelt conviction. He said: Did Alqamah remember the words of Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)? He said: Yes.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that in one year the rain stopped and there was a famine. On Friday, a man from among the Muslims stood up and said to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! The rain has stopped, the land has become dry, and the livestock are perishing. Hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) raised his hands (during the sermon), while at that time there was no cloud visible in the sky, and he raised his hands so high that I saw the whiteness of his armpits. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked Allah Almighty for rain. We had not yet performed the Friday prayer when, because of the rain, the young man living nearby became anxious to go home. Then this rain continued until the next Friday. When the next Friday came, that man said: O Messenger of Allah! The houses have collapsed, and the riders are stranded. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) smiled at the hastiness of the son of Adam, and raising his hands, said:“O Allah! Let the rain fall around us, not upon us.”So the clouds cleared away from Madinah.
