Musnad of Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith Number: 4855
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) wanted to buy Barirah, but Barirah’s owner refused to sell her and said that if the right of wala’ (allegiance) remains with us, then we will sell her. Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Buy her and set her free, for the right of wala’ belongs to the one who pays the price.”

Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once, while in the state of Ihram, Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) felt cold. He said to me, "Put some cloth over me." I put a cap on him, but he pushed it back and said, "You are putting on me such a cloth which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has forbidden the Muhrim to wear."

Ibn Awn, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I wrote a letter to Nafi', may Allah have mercy on him, in which I asked him whether the polytheists were invited (to Islam) before fighting. He wrote back to me in reply that this used to happen in the beginning of Islam, and when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) attacked Banu Mustaliq, those people were unaware and their animals were drinking water. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) killed their fighting men, took the rest captive, and on that same day, Lady Juwayriya bint al-Harith came into his share. This hadith has been narrated to me by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, who participated in the army.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and stood by the well on the day of the Battle of Badr, in which the bodies of the chiefs of Quraysh were thrown, and he began to call them by name, saying: "Did you find the promise of your Lord to be true?" By Allah! These people are hearing what I am saying. Yahya says that when Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) learned of this hadith, she said: "May Allah forgive Abu Abdur Rahman, he has become confused. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Now it has been established that what I used to say to them was true,' because Allah the Exalted says «إِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ الْمَوْتَ» 'You cannot make the dead hear,' and also «إِوَمَا أَنْتَ بِمُسْمِعٍ مَنْ فِي الْقُبُورِ» 'You cannot make those in the graves hear.'"
