The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) intended to beat him, but the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Leave him, for the rightful person can speak." Then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), "Buy a camel of the same age as his camel and give it to him."
