Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Whoever wishes to meet Allah tomorrow on the Day of Resurrection in a state of Islam should be regular in offering these obligatory prayers whenever the call for them is given, for they are among the ways of guidance. Allah has prescribed the ways of guidance for your Prophet. Every one of you has a mosque in his house; if you start praying in your houses as these people who stay behind do, you will have abandoned the Sunnah of your Prophet, and if you abandon the Sunnah of your Prophet, you will go astray.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Surah Nasr was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he began to say frequently: " «سُبْحَانَكَ اللّٰهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ اللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ التَّوَّابُ» " "Glory is to You, O our Lord! And all praise is for You. O Allah! Forgive me, for surely You are the Acceptor of repentance, the Most Merciful."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a cave, and there Surah Mursalat was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). We began to memorize it after hearing it from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Suddenly, a snake came out of its hole. We quickly moved forward, but it outpaced us and went back into its hole. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "It has escaped from your harm just as you have escaped from its harm."

Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna 'Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him) had superiority over all people in four matters:
① Regarding the captives of the Battle of Badr, Sayyiduna 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) advised that they be killed, and Allah revealed this verse in agreement with him: «‏‏‏‏﴿لَوْلَا كِتَابٌ مِنَ اللّٰهِ سَبَقَ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَا أَخَذْتُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ﴾» ‏‏‏‏ [الأنفال: 68]
② Regarding the veil (hijab), Sayyiduna 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) advised the pure wives to observe seclusion. Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O son of Khattab! Do you command us while revelation descends in our houses?" Upon this, Allah revealed this verse: «‏‏‏‏﴿وَإِذَا سَأَلْتُمُوهُنَّ مَتَاعًا فَاسْأَلُوهُنَّ مِنْ وَرَاءِ حِجَابٍ﴾» ‏‏‏‏ [الأحزاب: 53] "And when you ask them for anything, ask them from behind a curtain."
③ Regarding the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) supplication for him: "O Allah! Strengthen Islam through 'Umar."
④ Regarding Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), in terms of opinion, he was the first to pledge allegiance to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I heard a man reciting a verse of the Noble Qur'an. I had heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recite it in a different way, so I took him to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and mentioned this matter. Upon hearing this, the color of the Prophet's blessed face changed, or I noticed signs of displeasure on the blessed face of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he said, "Both of you are correct. Those before you were destroyed because of their disagreements, so do not differ with one another."
