A neighbor came to Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him), who wanted him to bear witness to his will, but Masruq saw that he had been extravagant and excessive. So Masruq said: "Allah has made the best distribution among you. Whoever prefers his own opinion over Allah's distribution has gone astray. Make a will for those among your relatives who are not heirs, and leave the rest to Allah's distribution." And he refused to bear witness.
