Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“I became ill in Makkah and feared death, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit me. I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! My wealth is abundant and my only heir is one daughter. Should I give two-thirds of my wealth in charity?’ He said: ‘No.’ I said: ‘Half?’ He said: ‘No.’ I said: ‘A third?’ He said: ‘A third, and a third is still much. It is better that you leave your heirs wealthy than to leave them poor, begging from people. And whatever you spend seeking Allah’s pleasure, you will be rewarded for it, even the morsel you put in your wife’s mouth.’”

Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“O Messenger of Allah! Will I be left behind after my migration?”The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Any deed you do for the sake of Allah’s pleasure will raise you in rank and status, and perhaps Allah will benefit some people through you and harm others.”

Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“When I fell ill in Makkah, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit me. I said: My wealth is abundant and I have no heir except one sister, should I bequeath all my wealth?”He said:“No.”Then (I asked): Half? He said:“No.”Then (I asked): A third?
