Iyas bin Abd Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade selling water 1. Imam Tirmidhi says:
1- The hadith of Iyas is Hasan Sahih,
2- In this chapter, hadiths have also been narrated from Jabir, Bahisah, the father of Bahisah, Abu Hurairah, Aisha, Anas, and Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them),
3- Most of the people of knowledge act upon this; they have declared selling water to be impermissible. This is also the view of Ibn Mubarak, Shafi’i, Ahmad, and Ishaq bin Rahwayh,
4- And some people of knowledge have permitted selling water, among whom is Hasan Basri.
