It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me, "Shall I not teach you such words that when you utter them with your tongue, your sins will be forgiven, even though your sins have already been forgiven? Recite these words, whose translation is: There is no deity except Allah, He is Forbearing and Generous. There is no deity except Allah, He is Great and Exalted. Allah is free from every defect and shortcoming. He is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Mighty Throne. All praise is for Allah, the Lord of all the worlds."

Abu Yahya says that when a wretched and wicked man named Ibn Muljam made a murderous attack on Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Treat him in the same way as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) treated the person who intended to martyr him." Nuaim bin Dajjajah says that once Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“Are you the one who said that a hundred years will not pass over the people before there will not remain an eye on the earth that blinks, meaning all the people will die?”What the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) actually said was:“Of those who are alive today, after a hundred years, there will not remain an eye among them that blinks,”meaning the Day of Judgment is not intended. By Allah! After a hundred years, this Ummah will receive ease.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would begin the obligatory prayer after the takbeer, he would say "Allahu Akbar" and raise his hands to the level of his shoulders. After completing the recitation, when he (peace be upon him) would go into bowing (ruku'), he would do the same. When rising from ruku', he would do the same. While sitting, during any posture, he (peace be upon him) would not raise his hands. However, when he would stand up after performing both prostrations, he would say the takbeer while raising his hands.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the day of Friday comes, the devils come out from their places and try to keep people busy in the markets. They have some flags with them. On the other hand, the angels sit at the doors of the mosques and write down the rewards for people according to their ranks: for the first, for the second, and for those who come after, until the Imam comes out. So whoever sits close to the Imam, sits silently, listens attentively to his words, and does not engage in any idle activity, for him there is double reward. And whoever sits far from the Imam but still sits silently, listens attentively, and does not engage in any idle activity, for him there is single reward. And whoever sits close to the Imam but engages in useless activities, does not sit silently, nor listens attentively to his words, for him there is single sin. And whoever says "be quiet" to someone to silence him, he too has spoken, and whoever speaks during the sermon will not receive any reward for Friday. Then he said: I heard this from your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in this way.
