Abdur Rahman bin Yazid says that I saw Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) stoning the Jamrah 'Aqabah from the bottom of the valley, after which he said: By Him besides whom there is no deity, this is the very place where Surah Al-Baqarah was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Abdur Rahman bin Yazid says that Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) continued to recite the Talbiyah on the return from Muzdalifah. People began to say, "Is he a villager?" Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Have the people forgotten or gone astray? I heard the very person upon whom Surah Al-Baqarah was revealed reciting the Talbiyah at this place."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hayyan Ashja'i (may Allah have mercy on him) that once Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: Recite the Qur'an to me. I said: I have learned the Qur'an from you, and you are the one who teaches us the Qur'an (so what should I recite to you?). He said: One day I was present in the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he said: "Recite to me." I said: O Messenger of Allah! The Qur'an has been revealed to you, and we have learned it from you? He said: "That is so, but I wish to hear it from someone other than myself."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that I began to recite from Surah An-Nisa in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When I reached this verse: «﴿فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا﴾ [النساء: 41] » "How will it be when We bring from every nation a witness, and We bring you as a witness over all of them?" the eyes of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to shed tears.

Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says that there are two statements: one I heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the other I say from myself. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever dies in a state while associating partners with Allah, will enter Hell." And I say: Whoever dies in a state while not associating anyone with Allah, will enter Paradise.

Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For forty days, the drop of fluid remains in its state in the mother's womb, and there is no change in it. When forty days pass, it becomes a clot of blood. After forty days, it becomes a lump of flesh. Likewise, after forty days, bones are clothed with flesh. Then, when Allah wills to complete its form and appearance, He sends an angel to it. The angel appointed for this task asks Allah: 'O Lord! Will it be male or female? Will it be wretched or blessed? Will it be short or tall? Will it be defective in creation or complete? What will its provision be and how long will its lifespan be? Will it be healthy or sick?' All these things are written down." Upon hearing this, someone from among the people asked: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! When all these things have been written, then what is the benefit of action?" He replied: "You should continue to act, for every person will be directed towards that for which he was created."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If three children of a Muslim husband and wife die before reaching puberty, they will become a strong fortress for them against Hell." Someone asked: O Messenger of Allah! What if someone has lost two children? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The same ruling applies." (Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! I have sent forth two children? He replied: "The same ruling applies.") Sayyiduna Ubayy ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) — who is famous as the leader of the reciters — said: Only one of my children has died? People asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! What if someone has lost one child? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This matter relates to the initial moments of grief" (that is, who is patient at that time and who is not, because later everyone becomes patient).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of the Trench, the polytheists kept the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so occupied that he was unable to perform four prayers at their prescribed times, until a part of the night had passed. After being freed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), who gave the call to prayer (adhan), then the iqamah was said, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the Zuhr prayer. Then, after the iqamah, he led the Asr prayer. Then, after the iqamah, he led the Maghrib prayer. Then, after having the iqamah called, he led the Isha prayer.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the night of Mi'raj, I met Hazrat Ibrahim, Hazrat Musa, and Hazrat Isa (peace be upon them). They began to discuss the Day of Resurrection, and this matter was presented before Hazrat Ibrahim (peace be upon him). He said, 'I have no knowledge of it.' Then it was presented before Hazrat Musa (peace be upon him), and he also said, 'I have no knowledge of it.' Then this matter was presented before Hazrat Isa (peace be upon him), and he said, 'No one has true knowledge of it except Allah. However, my Lord has informed me that near the Day of Resurrection, Dajjal will emerge. I will have two branches with me. As soon as Dajjal sees me, he will begin to melt just as tin melts. After that, Allah will cause him to be destroyed, until the trees and stones will call out, saying, "O Muslim! There is a disbeliever hiding beneath me, come and kill him." Thus, Allah will cause all of them to be destroyed. Then people will return to their cities and homelands. At that time, Gog and Magog will emerge, who will seem to be descending from every height. They will trample all the cities. I will supplicate to Allah against them, so Allah, the Exalted, will impose death upon them until the whole earth will be filled with their stench. Then Allah, the Exalted, will send rain which will wash away their bodies and throw them into the sea. (My father says that there is something here which I could not understand, nevertheless, the other narrator says:) After that, the mountains will be leveled and the earth will be stretched out like leather. My Lord has promised me that when these events occur, the example of the Day of Resurrection will be like that of a pregnant she-camel whose term has been completed, and its owner does not know when suddenly, during the day or night, it will give birth."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "So-and-so slept through the night neglecting prayer." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Satan has urinated in his ear."
