أَوَّلُ مُسْنَدِ الْبَصْرِيِّينَ
First Part of Musnad of the Basrans
وَمِنْ حَدِيثِ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
And from the hadith of Samurah ibn Jundub about the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith Number: 20078
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ، حدثنا شعبة ، عن منصور ، عن هلال بن يساف ، عن ربيع بن عميلة ، عن سمرة بن جندب : ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " لا تسم غلامك افلح ولا نجيحا ولا يسارا ولا رباحا، فإنك إذا قلت اثم هو، او اثم فلان؟ قالوا: لا" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not name your children Aflah, Najeeh (successful), Yasar (ease), and Rabah (profit), because when you call out their names and ask if they are here, people will say, "No, he is not here."

Hadith Number: 20079
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر , وروح , قالا: حدثنا شعبة ، عن شيخ من بني قشير , قال روح , قال: سمعت سوادة القشيري ، وكان إمامهم , قال: سمعت سمرة بن جندب يخطب , يقول: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا يغرنكم نداء بلال، وهذا البياض حتى ينفجر الفجر" او" يطلع الفجر" .
Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) once said during a sermon that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not be deceived by Bilal’s call to prayer or this whiteness until the true dawn appears.

حكم دارالسلام: صحيح لغيره، م: 1094، وهذا إسناد حسن
Hadith Number: 20080
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ، اخبرنا شعبة , وحجاج ، قال: حدثني شعبة ، قال: سمعت معبد بن خالد ، يحدث عن زيد بن عقبة ، عن سمرة بن جندب :" ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان يقرا في العيدين: ب سبح اسم ربك الاعلى و هل اتاك حديث الغاشية" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite "Sabbihisma Rabbikal A'la" and "Hal Ataka Hadithul Ghashiyah" in the Eid prayers.

Hadith Number: 20081
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ، حدثنا سعيد ، عن قتادة ، عن الحسن ، عن سمرة بن جندب ، قال: " كانت لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم سكتتان في صلاته" ,وقال عمران بن حصين: انا ما احفظهما عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم , فكتبوا في ذلك إلى ابي بن كعب يسالونه عنه، فكتب ابي ان سمرة قد حفظ.
Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would observe silence twice during the prayer. Hazrat Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) said that he did not remember this regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Both of them wrote a letter to Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) in this regard, in which they asked him about this issue. Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) replied in writing that Samurah had remembered correctly.

حكم دارالسلام: إسناده ضعيف لأن سماع الحسن من سمرة لم يثبت إلا فى حديث العقيقة، وفيما عدا ذلك فهو على الإرسال
Hadith Number: 20082
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر , وروح , قالا: حدثنا سعيد ، عن قتادة ، عن الحسن ، عن سمرة بن جندب ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " هي العصر" , قال ابن جعفر: سئل عن صلاة الوسطى .
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once someone asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "What is meant by 'Salat al-Wusta'?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "The Asr prayer."

حكم دارالسلام: صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد ضعيف، ولم يصرح الحسن بسماعه من سمرة
Hadith Number: 20083
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ، حدثنا سعيد , ويزيد ، قال: اخبرنا سعيد , وبهز ، حدثنا همام ، عن قتادة ، عن الحسن ، عن سمرة بن جندب ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم , انه قال: " كل غلام رهينة بعقيقته، تذبح عنه يوم سابعه , وقال بهز في حديثه: ويدمى ويسمى فيه ويحلق" قال يزيد: راسه.
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Every boy is held in pledge for his 'aqiqah, so sacrifice should be offered for him on the seventh day, his name should be given on that day, and his head should be shaved.

Hadith Number: 20084
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ، حدثنا سعيد , وبهز , حدثنا همام ، حدثنا قتادة ، عن الحسن , عن سمرة , ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " العمرى جائزة لاهلها" , قال ابن جعفر في حديثه: لاهلها او ميراث لاهلها.
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Umra is permissible for the person for whom it is made."

حكم دارالسلام: صحيح لغيره، وهذا إسناد ضعيف، ولم يصرح الحسن بسماعه من سمرة
Hadith Number: 20085
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر ، حدثنا سعيد ، عن قتادة ، عن الحسن ، عن سمرة ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم , وشك فيه في كتاب البيوع , فقال: عن عقبة او سمرة , ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " ايما امراة زوجها وليان، فهي للاول منهما، ومن باع بيعا من رجلين، فهو للاول منهما" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a woman is married by two guardians at different places, she will belong to the one who did it first, and when someone sells the same thing to two different men, it will belong to the one who bought it first.

حكم دارالسلام: إسناده ضعيف، الحسن البصري لم يصرح بسماعه
Hadith Number: 20086
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر , ومحمد بن بشر , قالا: حدثنا سعيد ، عن قتادة ، عن الحسن ، عن سمرة بن جندب ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " على اليد ما اخذت حتى تؤديه" , وقال ابن بشر: حتى تؤدي.
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whatever one hand takes from another, it remains a responsibility upon him until he returns it (to the giver).

حكم دارالسلام: حسن لغيره، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لأن الحسن لم يصرح بسماعه
Hadith Number: 20087
حدثنا بهز ، حدثنا همام ويزيد ، اخبرنا همام وحدثنا عفان ، حدثنا همام , حدثنا قتادة ، حدثني قدامة بن وبرة رجل من بني عجيف، عن سمرة بن جندب ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " من ترك جمعة في غير عذر، فليتصدق بدينار، فإن لم يجد، فنصف دينار" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever misses a Friday (prayer) without excuse, he should give one dinar in charity; if he cannot find one dinar, then he should give half a dinar in charity.
