أَوَّلُ مُسْنَدِ الْبَصْرِيِّينَ
First Part of Musnad of the Basrans
وَمِنْ حَدِيثِ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
And from the hadith of Samurah ibn Jundub about the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith Number: 20258
حدثنا يونس , وسريج , قالا: ثنا حماد ، عن بشر ، قال: سمعت سمرة ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، مثله.

Hadith Number: 20259
حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا همام ، حدثنا قتادة ، عن الحسن ، عن سمرة , ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " من توضا يوم الجمعة، فبها ونعمت، ومن اغتسل فذلك افضل" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever performs ablution on the day of Jumu'ah, it is sufficient, and whoever takes a bath, that is more virtuous.

Hadith Number: 20260
حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا همام ، عن قتادة ، عن الحسن ، عن سمرة ان يوم حنين كان يوما مطيرا" فامر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مناديه ان الصلاة في الرحال" ..
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the occasion of the Battle of Hunayn, on a rainy day, he instructed the people to pray in their own tents.

Hadith Number: 20262
حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا حماد ، اخبرنا قتادة ، عن الحسن ، عن سمرة , ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " نزل القرآن على ثلاثة احرف" , قال عفان مرة: انزل القرآن.
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The Holy Qur'an has been revealed upon three letters.

Hadith Number: 20263
حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا حماد ، اخبرنا قتادة ، عن الحسن ، عن سمرة ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " إذا تزوج الرجلان المراة فالاول احق، وإذا اشترى الرجلان البيع فالاول احق" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a woman’s marriage is contracted by two guardians in different places, then she will belong to the one who did it first. And whoever buys the same thing from two different men, then it will belong to the one who bought it first.

Hadith Number: 20264
حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا حماد ، اخبرنا قتادة ، عن الحسن ، عن سمرة " ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم نهى عن بيع الحيوان بالحيوان نسيئة" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the deferred sale and purchase of an animal in exchange for another animal.

Hadith Number: 20265
حدثنا عفان ، اخبرنا شعبة ، اخبرني عبد الملك بن عمير , قال: سمعت زيد بن عقبة ، قال: سمعت سمرة بن جندب , ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " المسائل كدوح يكدح بها الرجل وجهه، فمن شاء ابقى على وجهه، ومن شاء ترك، إلا ان يسال الرجل ذا سلطان، او يسال في الامر، لا يجد منه بدا" , قال: فحدثت به الحجاج، فقال: سلني، فإني ذو سلطان.
It is narrated from Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Stretching out one's hand to ask from someone is a wound and a blemish by which a person stains his face. Now, whoever wishes may let it remain on his face, and whoever wishes may leave it, except that a person asks from someone who is in authority or in a matter in which there is no other way out.

Hadith Number: 20266
حدثنا هشيم ، اخبرنا منصور , ويونس , عن الحسن ، عن سمرة بن جندب ," انه كان إذا صلى بهم سكت سكتتين: إذا افتتح الصلاة، وإذا قال: ولا الضالين سورة الفاتحة آية 7 سكت ايضا هنية" , فانكروا ذلك عليه، فكتب إلى ابي بن كعب ، فكتب إليهم ابي , ان الامر كما صنع سمرة..
Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would observe silence twice during the prayer: once after starting the prayer, and once after completing the recitation. Hazrat Imran bin Husain said that he did not even remember this regarding the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Both of them wrote a letter to Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b about this matter, in which they asked him about this issue. Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka'b, in his reply, confirmed the statement of Hazrat Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him).
