حَدِيثُ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Hadith of Zayd ibn Thabit from the Prophet (peace be upon him)
Hadith Number: 21576
حدثنا ابو سعيد مولى بني هاشم ، حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن ابي الرجال ، عن شرحبيل ، قال: اخذت نهسا بالاسواف، فاخذه مني زيد بن ثابت فارسله، وقال: اما علمت ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حرم ما بين لابتيها .
Sharjeel says that once I caught a bird in the market that was like a shrike. Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) saw it, took it from my hand and set it free (and it flew away), and said: Do you not know that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has declared the area between the two boundaries of Madinah Munawwarah as sacred?

Hadith Number: 21577
حدثنا سريج ، حدثنا ابن ابي الزناد ، عن ابيه ، عن خارجة بن زيد ، ان زيد بن ثابت ، قال:" رخص رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في بيع العرايا ان تباع بخرصها كيلا" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted in "Bay' Araya" that it may be sold by estimation and measurement. Benefit: For clarification of Bay' Araya, see Hadith number (4490).

Hadith Number: 21578
حدثنا الاسود بن عامر ، حدثنا شريك ، عن الركين ، عن القاسم بن حسان ، عن زيد بن ثابت ، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " إني تارك فيكم خليفتين كتاب الله، حبل ممدود ما بين السماء والارض او ما بين السماء إلى الارض، وعترتي اهل بيتي، وإنهما لن يتفرقا حتى يردا علي الحوض" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I am leaving among you two deputies, one is the Book of Allah, which is a rope hanging between the sky and the earth, and the other is my Ahl al-Bayt. And these two things will never be separated until they come to me at the Pond of Kawthar.

Hadith Number: 21579
حدثنا ابو احمد ، حدثنا كثير بن زيد ، عن المطلب بن عبد الله ، قال: دخل زيد بن ثابت على معاوية، فحدثه حديثا، فامر إنسانا ان يكتب، فقال: زيد ، إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم" نهى ان نكتب شيئا من حديثه، فمحاه" .
Once, Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) went to meet Hazrat Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). He narrated a hadith to him. Hazrat Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) ordered a man to write it down, but Hazrat Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade writing down any of his hadith. So, he erased it.

Hadith Number: 21580
حدثنا ابو احمد ، حدثنا كثير بن زيد ، عن المطلب بن عبد الله ، قال: تماروا في القراءة في الظهر والعصر، فارسلوا إلى خارجة بن زيد ، قال: ابي قام، او كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " يطيل القيام، ويحرك شفتيه، فقد اعلم ذلك لم يكن إلا لقراءة، فانا افعل" .
Matlab bin Abdullah says that once there was a difference of opinion among some people regarding recitation in the Zuhr and Asr prayers, so they sent a man to Kharijah bin Zaid (may Allah have mercy on him) to ask about this issue. He narrated from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to stand for a long time and would keep moving his lips. I think this could only be because of recitation, so I also recite (in these prayers).

Hadith Number: 21581
حدثنا محمد بن مصعب ، حدثنا الاوزاعي ، عن الزهري ، عن سالم ، عن ابن عمر ، عن زيد بن ثابت ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " رخص في بيع العرايا ان تباع بخرصها، ولم يرخص في غير ذلك" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted in "Bay' Araya" that it may be sold by estimation and measurement. Benefit: For clarification of Bay' Araya, see Hadith number (4490).

Hadith Number: 21582
حدثنا عفان ، حدثنا وهيب ، حدثنا موسى بن عقبة ، قال: سمعت ابا النضر يحدث، عن بسر بن سعيد ، عن زيد بن ثابت ، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم اتخذ حجرة في المسجد من حصير، فصلى فيها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ليالي، حتى اجتمع إليه ناس، ثم فقدوا صوته، فظنوا انه قد نام، فجعل بعضهم يتنحنح ليخرج إليهم، فقال: " ما زال بكم الذي رايت من صنيعكم حتى خشيت ان يكتب عليكم، ولو كتب عليكم، ما قمتم به، فصلوا ايها الناس في بيوتكم، فإن افضل صلاة المرء في بيته إلا الصلاة المكتوبة" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made a tent out of a mat in the mosque and prayed in it for several nights, until people also began to gather. After a few days, the voice of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was not heard, so people thought that perhaps the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had fallen asleep. Therefore, some people went near and started coughing so that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would come out. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: I was continuously observing your action until I feared that this prayer (Tahajjud) might become obligatory upon you, because if this prayer became obligatory upon you, you would not be able to adhere to it. Therefore, O people! Pray in your homes, for apart from the obligatory prayers, praying other prayers at home is the best for a person.

Hadith Number: 21583
حدثنا إسماعيل ، حدثنا ايوب ، عن نافع ، قال: وقال ابن عمر ، حدثني زيد بن ثابت ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " رخص في بيع العرايا بخرصها" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted in "Bay' Araya" that it may be sold by estimation of measure. Benefit: For clarification of Bay' Araya, see Hadith number (4490).

Hadith Number: 21584
حدثنا سفيان ، عن الزهري ، عن سالم ، عن ابيه ، ان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم" نهى عن بيع الثمر بالتمر" فاخبرهم زيد بن ثابت ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم" رخص في العرايا" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling dates that are still on the trees in exchange for cut (harvested) dates. Then Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) informed them that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted this in the case of "Ariya."

Hadith Number: 21585
حدثنا يحيى ، عن هشام ، حدثنا قتادة ، عن انس ، عن زيد بن ثابت ، قال: تسحرنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فخرجنا إلى المسجد، فاقيمت الصلاة، قلت: كم كان بينهما؟ قال: " قدر ما يقرا الرجل خمسين آية" .
It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we ate sahur with the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, then we went out towards the mosque and the prayer was established. The narrator asked, "What was the interval between the two?" He replied, "As long as it takes a man to recite fifty verses."
