Sayyiduna Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Both ears are part of the head." This narration has been transmitted as a "marfu'" narration by a narrator named Ali bin Ja'far, but what is more correct is that this narration is "mawquf." Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this statement of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The narrator is in doubt; perhaps these are the words: Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Both ears are part of the head." That is, there is doubt in this narration.
