It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Duhha, may Allah have mercy on him: Regarding the martyrs of Uhud, this verse was revealed «وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذِينَ قُتِلُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتًا بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ» and also this «وَيَتَّخِذَ مِنْكُمْ شُهَدَاءَ» about them. On that day, seventy people were martyred. Four were from the Muhajireen: Sayyiduna Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Mus'ab bin Umair (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Shamas bin Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with him).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him): When this verse was revealed «إِلَّا تَنْفِرُوا يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا وَيَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْمًا غَيْرَكُمْ» , the hypocrites said: "There are some people who did not go out for jihad, so have they perished?" Whereas there was a group that stayed behind to acquire knowledge of the religion «لِيَتَفَقَّهُوا فِي الدِّينِ» , and about them Allah said «وَالَّذِينَ يُحَاجُّونَ فِي اللَّهِ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا اسْتُجِيبَ لَهُ» .

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him): He said, "Sharpen your sword." It was asked: "Why, O Abu Abdullah?" He replied, "Cowardice has been placed in your hearts and fear has been removed from the hearts of your enemies." It was asked: "Why is that?" He said, "Because of love for the world and dislike of death." Glad tidings are for the one whose tongue remains silent, who weeps over his sins, and for whom his house is sufficient.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The voice of Abu Talhah in the army is better than a group." He would sit kneeling in front of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and say: "My face is a shield for your face, and my life is sacrificed for your life."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): People asked Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her): "Which was the hardest day upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" She replied: "I think I remember that day when he was in the mosque and some of those people were present." They began to say: "He says this and that which we dislike." So they came to him as a group. They said: "Do you say this?" He replied: "Yes." And he would not hide anything from them. Then they seized him. A caller came to my father and said: "Go to the aid of your companion." My father came running. He had hair in braids. And he called out: "Do you kill a man because he says: 'My Lord is Allah'?" Then they became occupied with him and turned towards my father. He came to us and kept saying: "You are blessed, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor." He had a braid on his head. He would do like this with his hand.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave one hundred camels each from the spoils of the Battle of Hunayn to Sayyiduna ‘Uyainah bin Badr and Sayyiduna Aqra‘ bin Habis (may Allah be pleased with them both). Some of the Ansar said:“Our spoils are being given to those whose blood was still dripping from our swords, or our blood from their swords.”So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called the Ansar. He said:“Is there anyone absent among you?”They said:“No, except for such-and-such nephew of ours.”He said:“Nephews are also from the tribe.”Then he said:“O group of Ansar! Are you not pleased that people take the world and you take Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to your homes?”All said:“Why not, O Messenger of Allah!”He said:“If people walk in a valley and the Ansar in a mountain pass, I will choose the mountain pass of the Ansar.”The Ansar are a part of my body and soul. And if there had been no migration, I would have been from among the Ansar.”

Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "When the people refused to give zakat, I intended to fight them." It was said: "Did not the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say that I have been commanded to fight the people until they say 'La ilaha illallah', and when they say it, they protect their blood and wealth from me except by its right?" He said: "Giving zakat is also its right, and if they withhold even a single thing which they used to give during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I will fight them for it."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed wealth at Ji‘irrana. A man came and said, "O Muhammad, be just." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Woe to you! If I do not act justly, then who will?" Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Allow me to strike his neck." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "No, people like him will recite the Qur'an but it will not go beyond their throats; they will exit the religion just as an arrow passes through its prey."
