Hadith of Ubadah ibn al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith Number: 22732
It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took a pledge from us on six things just as he took from women: that you will not associate anything with Allah, you will not steal, you will not commit adultery, you will not kill your children, you will not slander one another, and you will not disobey me in any good matter. Whoever among you commits a punishable offense with a woman and receives its immediate punishment, then that will be an expiation for him. And if he is given respite, then his matter is referred to Allah; if He wills, He will punish him, and if He wills, He will forgive him.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that when revelation would descend upon the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would experience great distress and its effects would be visible on his blessed face. Once, when this state passed, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take this from me, take this from me. Allah Almighty has determined a way for women: if an unmarried man commits adultery with an unmarried woman, he should be given one hundred lashes and exiled for one year; and if a married man commits adultery with a married woman, he should be given one hundred lashes and also stoned to death."
