It is narrated from Hazrat Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that in one of the battles there was a man with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who performed remarkable feats of bravery on the battlefield. The Muslims were very pleased with him, but the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This man is from the people of Hell." We said, "Even though he is in the path of Allah and with the Messenger of Allah?" Allah and His Messenger know best. During the battle, that man was wounded, and when the pain of the wound became severe, he placed his sword on his chest and thrust it through himself. Seeing this, a man came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and reported, "The man about whom you made that statement—I saw him thrust his sword into his own body." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "A person may appear to people to be doing the deeds of the people of Paradise, but in reality, he is from the people of Hell. Similarly, a person may appear to people to be doing the deeds of the people of Hell, but in reality, he is from the people of Paradise."

Someone asked Hazrat Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) whether the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had seen sifted flour with his own eyes before his passing. He replied that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never saw sifted flour with his own eyes until he met Allah. The questioner asked, "Did you people have sieves during the Prophetic era?" He replied, "We did not have sieves." The questioner asked, "Then what did you do with barley?" He replied, "We used to blow on it; whatever was to fly away would fly away."

It is narrated from Hazrat Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that we were digging the trench along with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) during the Battle of the Trench, and we were carrying the soil on our shoulders and taking it away. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), seeing this, began to say: O Allah! The real life is the life of the Hereafter. O Allah! Forgive the Muhajireen and the Ansar.

It is narrated from Hazrat Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was some discord among certain Ansari people, for the reconciliation of whom the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went. When the time for prayer came, Hazrat Bilal came to Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "O Abu Bakr! The time for prayer has come, but the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is not present here. Should I give the adhan and then the iqamah, and you step forward to lead the prayer?" Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "As you wish." So Hazrat Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the adhan and iqamah, and Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) stepped forward and began the prayer. Meanwhile, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived. The people started clapping, and sensing this, Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) began to step back. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) signaled to him to remain in his place, but Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) moved back, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stepped forward and led the prayer. After finishing the prayer, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Abu Bakr! What prevented you from staying in your place?" He replied, "How could the son of Abu Quhafa dare to step ahead of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the people, "Why did you clap?" They replied, "So that we could inform Abu Bakr." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Clapping is for women, and saying 'Subhan Allah' is for men."

It is narrated from Hazrat Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Khaybar, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Tomorrow I will give this flag to a person by whose hands Allah will grant victory over Khaybar. He loves Allah and His Messenger.”The people spent the night in anticipation, wondering to whom the flag would be given. In the morning, the people came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), each one hoping that he would receive the flag. But the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“Where is Ali bin Abi Talib?”Someone said,“O Messenger of Allah! He is ill.”So a messenger was sent to call him. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) applied his saliva to his eyes and prayed for him, and he was cured, as if he had never been ill. Then the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him the flag. Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said,“O Messenger of Allah! Should I fight them until they become like us?”The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,“Wait. When you reach their area, invite them to Islam and inform them of Allah’s rights over them. By Allah! If a single person is guided through you, it is better for you than red camels.”
