It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that in the era of ignorance, the Quraysh used to fast on the tenth of Muharram, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also used to fast on this day. After migrating to Madinah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) continued to fast on this day and instructed his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to do so as well. Then, when the fasts of Ramadan were made obligatory, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to fast only in Ramadan and abandoned the fast of Ashura. Now, whoever wishes may fast on this day, and whoever wishes may leave it.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that there was a woman from the Banu Makhzum who used to borrow things from people and then deny having taken them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that her hand be cut off. Her family came to Hazrat Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) and spoke to him about this matter. He spoke to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Usama! Are you interceding with me regarding one of the limits set by Allah?" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to deliver a sermon and said, "The people before you were destroyed only because when a noble person among them committed theft, they would let him go, but if a weak person committed theft, they would cut off his hand. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, if Fatimah bint Muhammad were to steal, I would cut off her hand as well." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had the hand of that Makhzumi woman cut off.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) regarding the command of Allah Almighty: إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ that before accepting Islam, the people of Ansar used to assume Ihram for "Manat" and worshipped it near Mushallal, and whoever assumed Ihram for it considered performing Sa'i between Safa and Marwah a sin. Then they asked the Prophet (peace be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! In the days of ignorance, people used to consider Sa'i between Safa and Marwah a sin; what is its ruling now?" Upon this, Allah revealed this verse that Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah, so whoever performs Hajj or Umrah, there is no sin upon him in making Tawaf of them.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the verse of choice (Ayat Takhyir) was revealed, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) first called me and said, "O Aisha! I want to mention something before you; do not make any decision in this matter without consulting your parents." I asked, "What is it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called me and recited this verse: "O Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), say to your wives: If you desire Allah and His Messenger and the Hereafter..." I said, "I choose Allah and His Messenger." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became very happy.
