Hadith Number: 395
حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو بن دينار ، عن عبد العزيز بن رفيع ، عن ابي صالح ، عن عطاء بن يسار ، عن رجل من اهل مصر، قال: سالت ابا الدرداء عن قول الله عز وجل: الذين آمنوا وكانوا يتقون {63} لهم البشرى في الحياة الدنيا وفي الآخرة سورة يونس آية 63 64، فقال: ما سالني عنها احد منذ سالت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عنها غيرك، إلا رجلا واحدا , سالت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عنها , فقال:" ما سالني عنها احد منذ انزلت غيرك، إلا رجلا واحدا الرؤيا الصالحة يراها المسلم او ترى له" .
Ata bin Yasar narrates from a man belonging to Egypt: I asked Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) about the statement of Allah Almighty: «لَهُمُ الْبُشْرَى فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا» “Those who believe and have Taqwa, for them there is good news in the life of this world and in the Hereafter.”(10-Yunus:64) So Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ said: Since I asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, no one except you has asked me about it until now. Only one other person had asked this question. I asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, and he said:“Since this verse was revealed, no one except you has asked me about it. Only one person has asked.”(What is meant by this is) true dreams, which a Muslim sees (the narrator is unsure, perhaps the words are) which are shown to a Muslim.

قال سفيان : ثم لقيت عبد العزيز بن رفيع ، فحدثنيه عن ابي صالح ، عن عطاء بن يسار ، عن رجل من اهل مصر، عن ابي الدرداء ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مثله.
This same narration is transmitted with another chain of narration from Sayyiduna Abu Darda.

Hadith Number 397

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو بن دينار ، عن ابن ابي مليكة ، عن يعلى بن مملك ، عن ام الدرداء ، عن ابي الدرداء ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " من اعطي حظه من الرفق , فقد اعطي حظه من الخير، ومن حرم حظه من الرفق , فقد حرم حظه من الخير" .
Sayyidah Umm Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:“Whoever has been given a share of gentleness has been given a share of goodness, and whoever is deprived of a share of gentleness is deprived of a share of goodness.”

Hadith Number 398

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عمرو بن دينار ، عن ابن ابي مليكة ، عن يعلى بن مملك ، عن ام الدرداء ، عن ابي الدرداء ، ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " إن اثقل شيء في الميزان خلق حسن، وإن الله عز وجل يبغض الفاحش البذئ" .
Sayyida Umm Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“The heaviest thing in the scale is good character, and Allah Almighty dislikes the foul-mouthed person with bad character.”

Hadith Number 399

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا عطاء بن السائب ، عن ابي عبد الرحمن السلمي ، عن ابي الدرداء ان رجلا اتاه، فقال له: إن ابي يامرني بطلاقها، فقال ابو الدرداء: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: " الوالد اوسط ابواب الجنة، او فاضع ذلك , او احفظه" . وربما قال سفيان: إن امي، وربما قال: إن امي وابي.
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came to him and said: My father is commanding me to divorce my wife. So Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say:“The father is the middle gate of Paradise. (It is up to you) whether you waste it or protect it.”The narrator named Sufyan sometimes narrated these words: My mother has commanded me this, and sometimes he narrated these words: My mother (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words) or my father has commanded me this.

حدثنا سفيان ، عن الاعمش ، عن إبراهيم ، عن علقمة ، قال:" قرات بالشام: والليل إذا يغشى والنهار إذا تجلى والذكر والانثى، قال ابو الدرداء: هكذا سمعت عبد الله يقرؤها؟ فقلت: نعم، قال: هو يشهد، انه سمع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقراها كذلك: والذكر والانثى" .
Alqamah narrates: I recited this verse in Syria: «وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّى وَالذَّكَرِ وَالْأُنْثَى» , so Sayyiduna Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: Have you heard Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) recite this verse in this way? I replied: Yes! Then he said: And he testified and stated that he heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) recite this verse in this way: «وَالذَّكَرِ وَالْأُنْثَى»

حدثنا سفيان ، قال: حدثنا سهيل بن ابي صالح ، عن عبد الله بن يزيد السعدي ، قال: سالت سعيد بن المسيب عن اكل الضبع، فقال: او ياكلها احد؟ فقلت: إن ناسا من قومي يتحبلونها فياكلونها، فقال سعيد: إنه لا يصلح اكلها، فقال شيخ عنده: الا اخبرك مما سمعت من ابي الدرداء، سمعت ابا الدرداء ، يقول:" نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن كل نهبة، وعن كل خطفة، وعن المجثمة، وعن كل ذي ناب من السبع" ، فقال سعيد: صدقت.
Abdullah bin Yazid Sa'di narrates: I asked Sa'id bin al-Musayyib about eating badger, so he said: Can anyone eat it? I said: People from my tribe hunt it and eat it. So Sa'id said: It is not permissible to eat it. Then an elderly man present with him said: Shall I tell you something that I heard from Sayyiduna Abu Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him)? I heard Sayyiduna Abu Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) say: "The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade eating the limb cut from a living animal, and the animal killed by being targeted, and every animal with sharp teeth." So Sa'id said: You have spoken the truth.
