Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Shibl (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate: We were present with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). A man stood before him and said: O Messenger of Allah! I beseech you by Allah to judge between us according to the Book of Allah. His opposing party stood up, and he was more understanding than him. He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! Judge between us according to the Book of Allah, but please allow me to say something. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Speak." He said: My son was working for this man. He committed adultery with his wife. I was informed that my son would be stoned, so I gave one hundred sheep and a servant as ransom for him. Then I inquired about this matter from some people of knowledge, and they told me that my son would be given one hundred lashes and exiled for one year, and this wife would be stoned. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I will judge between you both according to the Book of Allah. The one hundred sheep and the servant will be returned to you. Your son will be given one hundred lashes and exiled for one year. O Anas! Go to this woman, if she confesses, then stone her." Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the woman, she confessed, so he had her stoned. Sufyan says: Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) belonged to the Aslam tribe.

Sayyiduna Zaid bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Shibl narrate: We were present with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when he was asked about a slave girl who commits adultery before becoming a muhsanah (i.e., before being married and thus not liable to the hadd punishment). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If anyone's slave girl commits adultery, then flog her. If she does it again, then flog her again. If she does it again, then flog her again." (The narrator says:) On the third or perhaps the fourth time, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Then sell her, even if it is for a rope." (Imam Humaydi, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The word "dhafeer" used in the text of the narration refers to a rope made from hair.

Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: During the blessed time of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, it once rained at night. The next morning, the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Do you know what your Lord said last night? He said: 'Whenever I bestow a blessing upon My servants, some among them become disbelievers, and they say: Rain has come to us because of such-and-such star.' But the one who believes in Me praises Me for My watering, so he is the one who believes in Me and rejects the stars. But the one who says: Rain has come to us because of such-and-such star, he believes in the stars and rejects Me (the narrator is unsure, perhaps the words are) rejects My blessing.'" Sufyan says: Mu'ammar narrated this to us earlier from Salih, then we heard this narration from Salih himself.

Yazid, the freed slave of Manba’, narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and asked him about something that is found lying somewhere. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:“Recognize its pouch and the string with which its mouth is tied. Then announce it for a year. If it is acknowledged (by its owner), then fine; otherwise, include it in your own property.”The narrator says: The Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked about a lost goat. He (peace be upon him) said:“It will either be found by you, or by your brother, or by a wolf.”The narrator says: They asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about a lost camel, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) became angry, to the extent that his blessed face turned red. He (peace be upon him) said:“What concern do you have with it? Its belly and its legs are with it. It will reach water itself and eat grass until its owner finds it.”Sufyan says: I have come to know that a narrator named Rabi’ah bin Abu ‘Abd al-Rahman narrates this narration as a musnad narration from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him). I went to him and said: The hadith which you narrate from Yazid, the freed slave of Manba’, regarding the lost item, the lost camel or goat, is it narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the authority of Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him)? He replied: Yes. Sufyan says: I did not like him because of his opinion, so I did not ask him about this. If he had not mentioned its chain of narration, I would not have asked him about its chain either.

He replied: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "For a person to wait for forty is better for him than to pass in front of someone who is praying." However, it is not known whether forty refers to years, days, or hours.
