Hazrat Zahriyyah narrates that I was sitting with Abdullah bin Busr on the day of Jumu'ah, and he continued talking with us until the Imam arrived. Then a man came and started stepping over people's necks. He (Abdullah bin Busr) said to me: A man came stepping over people's necks while the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was delivering the sermon, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to him: "Sit down, you have caused harm (to others) and you came late." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that there are other chapters regarding the sermon which I have already mentioned in the Book of the Two Eids.

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever performs ghusl on Friday and performs the best ghusl, or he performs wudu and does it well, then wears his best clothes and applies the perfume given by Allah or uses the oil prepared by his family, and does not separate two people sitting together, then the sins committed between this Friday and the previous Friday are forgiven." Janab Bundar says that I heard this narration from the mouth of my respected teacher through his father. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I do not know of any narrator who has followed Janab Bundar in this narration. And even an expert horseman sometimes makes a mistake.

Sayyiduna Amr bin Aas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Three types of people attend the Friday prayer. One is the person who attends the Friday prayer and engages in idle acts, so that is his share from the Friday. The second is the person who attends to supplicate to Allah Almighty. Therefore, if Allah wills, He grants him, and if He wills, He does not grant him. The third is the person who attends the Friday prayer with dignity, remains silent and calm, does not step over the necks of any Muslim, nor does he cause harm to anyone. For him, this becomes an expiation for the sins committed between this Friday and the previous Friday, and for three additional days. Because Allah Almighty has said «‏‏‏‏مَن جَاءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ عَشْرُ أَمْثَالِهَا» ‏‏‏‏ [ سورة الأنعام: 160 ] 'Whoever brings a good deed, he will have ten times its like as a reward.'"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The five prayers and from one Friday to the next Friday are an expiation for the sins committed in between, as long as major sins are not committed."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Anas al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade sitting with one's knees drawn up (hugging the knees) on Friday while the Imam is delivering the sermon.

Sayyiduna Amr bin Shu'aib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade buying and selling in the mosques, reciting poetry in them, announcing lost items, and forming circles to sit before the Friday prayer on the day of Jumu'ah.

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a Muslim man performs ablution well and comes for Jumu'ah, then does not engage in any idle act nor any act of ignorance until the Imam finishes the prayer, then this deed will be an expiation for the sins committed between this Jumu'ah and the next."

Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs a good ablution on Friday, then comes for the Friday prayer, sits near the Imam, remains silent, and listens attentively to the sermon, his sins committed between this Friday and the next Friday, and an additional three days, will be forgiven. And whoever touches pebbles (plays with them) has engaged in idle action."

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you becomes drowsy in his place on the day of Jumu'ah, he should change his place." This is the narration of Ashajj. And in the narration of Yazid bin Harun, the words are: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."
