Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah
Imam Abu Bakr, may Allah have mercy on him, says that the ahadith of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in which he forbade fasting on Friday alone, except if one fasts a day before Friday or a day after it, contain evidence that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted fasting on Saturday, provided that one fasts on Friday before it or on the day after it (Sunday).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: "Friday is a day of Eid, so do not fast on the day of Friday unless you fast a day before it or a day after it." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that in this way, the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) permitted fasting on Saturday if the fasting person also fasted on Friday before it.

The freed slave of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), Kuraib, narrates that Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and some of the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent me to Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) to ask her which days the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to fast frequently. She replied that he used to fast frequently on Saturday and Sunday. So I returned and informed them of this, but it was as if they did not accept this statement. All of them got up and went to her and said, "We sent him to you to ask you about this issue, and he has told us that you gave this answer." She replied, "He has spoken the truth. Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to fast most often on Saturday and Sunday, and he used to say: 'These two days are the festival days of the polytheists (they eat and drink on them), and I wish to oppose them (by fasting on these days).’"

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "A woman should not fast even a single day, apart from the fasts of Ramadan, without her husband's permission while her husband is present at home." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the statement of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him), "apart from the month of Ramadan," is of the same type about which we say that when a ruling is based on a reason, and the reason is present and established, then the knowledge and obligation are established. Therefore, when the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) declared it permissible for a woman to observe the fasts of Ramadan without her husband's permission, because the fasts of Ramadan are obligatory upon her, then every obligatory fast is permissible for her to observe without her husband's permission. I have written a separate book on this issue, in which I have explained those commands and prohibitions that are based on a reason.

Hazrat Marthad or Abu Marthad narrates from his father that we met Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was near the middle Jamrah. So I asked him about Laylat al-Qadr. He said: No one questioned the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about Laylat al-Qadr more than I did. I asked: O Messenger of Allah, was revelation about Laylat al-Qadr sent down to the noble Prophets, and then (after the Prophets departed, Laylat al-Qadr also) went away? He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied:“Rather, Laylat al-Qadr will remain until the Day of Resurrection.”I asked: O Messenger of Allah, which night is it? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“If I had been permitted, I would have surely informed you. But seek it in the seven nights, and do not ask about it after today.”He says: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned to the people and began to address them, so I asked: O Messenger of Allah, which are those seven nights? So he became so angry with me that he had never been so angry before nor after. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Did I not forbid you from asking about it? If I had been permitted, I would have surely informed you, I would have surely given you its news. But I hope that it will be in the last seven nights.”

Hazrat Mirthad narrates that I asked Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him), I said, "Did you ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about Laylat al-Qadr?" He replied, "I was the person who asked the most about Laylat al-Qadr." He says, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, tell me, is Laylat al-Qadr in the blessed month of Ramadan or in some other month?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Rather, it is in Ramadan." I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah, does Laylat al-Qadr occur only in the times of the noble Prophets, and when the Prophets pass away, is Laylat al-Qadr also taken away? Or will it remain until the Day of Judgment?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "No, rather it will remain until the Day of Judgment." I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, is it in Ramadan?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Seek it in the first and last ten nights." He says, then he continued to explain to the people, so I took advantage of his unawareness and submitted, "O Messenger of Allah, I ask you by oath, in which twenty nights is it?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) became so angry with me that he had never been so angry before nor after. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Indeed, if Allah had willed, He would have informed you of it. Seek it in the last seven nights."
