Guarding the Tongue While Fasting
Hadith Number: 706
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fasting is a shield for protection from the Fire, so (the fasting person) should neither utter obscene words nor behave ignorantly. And if someone fights with him or abuses him, then his only response should be: "I am fasting" (he should say these words) twice. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, the smell from the mouth of a fasting person is more beloved and purer to Allah than the fragrance of musk. (Allah Almighty says:) My servant leaves his food, drink, and desires for My sake. Fasting is for Me, and I alone will give its reward. (And for other) good deeds, the reward is multiplied tenfold.

Virtue of Fasting
Hadith Number: 707
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty says: Every good deed of the son of Adam is for himself except fasting; it is especially for Me and I alone will give its reward. And fasting is a shield against sins. If any of you is fasting, he should neither use foul language nor raise his voice. If someone abuses him or wants to fight with him, he should simply reply:“I am a fasting person.”By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the smell from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the fragrance of musk. The fasting person has two joys: (one is) when he breaks his fast, he rejoices, and (the other is) when he meets his Lord, he will be happy with the reward of his fasting.

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There is a gate in Paradise called Rayyan. On the Day of Resurrection, only those who fast will enter Paradise through it; no one else will enter through it. It will be announced,“Where are those who fasted?”They will stand up, and no one else will be able to enter through it except them. Narrated by Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): When the Messenger of Allah would begin to observe voluntary fasts, we (among ourselves) would say that now he will not stop fasting, and when he would stop fasting, we would say that now he will not fast again. I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) observe voluntary fasts for a whole month except for Ramadan, and I have not seen him fast in any month more than he did in Sha'ban.
