Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The supplication of a just ruler is not rejected.

Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Qais bin Abad (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The action of a just ruler for one day is better than sixty years of action by any one of you.

Hazrat Ibn Sabit (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: In Paradise, there is a palace called 'Adn. Around it are five thousand doors. No one will reside in it or be able to enter it except a prophet, a truthful one (siddiq), a martyr, or a just ruler.

Hazrat Abu Kanana (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Indeed, part of honoring Allah is to honor an elderly Muslim, and to honor the bearer of the Qur'an who neither exaggerates regarding it nor neglects it, and to honor a just ruler.

Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: There are three persons whose rights cannot be belittled except by a hypocrite whose hypocrisy is completely evident. The first is a just ruler, the second is one who teaches goodness, and the third is one who has reached old age in Islam.

Hazrat Abu Makin (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Hazrat Zaid bin Aslam (may Allah have mercy on him) explained the context of the revelation of this verse as follows: Verse: {إنَّ اللَّہَ یَأْمُرُکُمْ أَنْ تُؤَدُّوا الأَمَانَاتِ إلَی أَہْلِہَا وَإِذَا حَکَمْتُمْ بَیْنَ النَّاسِ أَنْ تَحْکُمُوا بِالْعَدْلِ } He (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This verse was revealed regarding the affairs of the wealthy.

Hazrat Ibn Abi Layla (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from a man that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said regarding this verse of the Qur'an: verse {إنَّ اللَّہَ یَأْمُرُکُمْ أَنْ تُؤَدُّوا الأَمَانَاتِ إلَی أَہْلِہَا } This verse is ambiguous. It is for both the righteous and the wicked.

Hazrat Abu Marzuq, may Allah have mercy on him, who was the freed slave of Hazrat Najeeb, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates: We went with Hazrat Ruwaifi’ bin Thabit Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, for jihad towards the west. We conquered a town named Jarbah, and he, may Allah be pleased with him, stood among us to deliver a sermon and said: Indeed, I will not say anything to you except what I heard from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, which he said about us on the day of the Battle of Khaybar. He said: Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, he should not ride any animal from the spoils of the Muslims until, when he has made it weak, he returns it to the spoils. Nor should he wear any garment from the spoils of the Muslims until, when he has worn it out, he returns it to the spoils.

Hazrat Qaboos’ (may Allah have mercy on him) father narrates that Hazrat Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) was in charge of a portion of the property of the Muhajireen which had been obtained as spoils of war. A man came to him who had some of the spoils of war and handed them over to Hazrat Salman (may Allah be pleased with him), then went away. After a short while, he returned and said:“O Salman! Indeed, there was a small tear in my garment, so I took a needle from the spoils and sewed my garment with it.”Hazrat Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said:“Everything has some value.”So the man came and took a needle out of his clothes and said:“I am free of even this.”

Imam Awza'i (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from a companion (may Allah be pleased with him) of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Beware of dishonesty in war booty; that is, a person rides an animal and weakens and emaciates it before handing it over as war booty, or someone wears a garment until he makes it old before handing it over as war booty.
