The First Chapter on Its Virtue
Hadith Number: 550
عن ابي بكر الصديق رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((السواك مطهرة للفم، مرضاة للرب))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Using the miswak purifies the mouth and is an act that pleases the Lord, the Exalted."

Hadith Number: 551
عن عائشة رضي الله عنها عن النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم مثله
Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) has also narrated a similar hadith from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Hadith Number: 552
عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنه ان النبي صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: عليكم بالسواك، فإنه مطيبة للفم ومرضاة للرب
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“Make the use of miswak obligatory upon yourselves, for it purifies the mouth and pleases the Lord.”

Hadith Number: 553
عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((امرت بالسواك حتى ظننت او حسبت ان سينزل فيه قرآن))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was commanded so much to use the miswak that I began to think that soon a verse of the Noble Qur'an would be revealed about it."

Hadith Number: 554
وعنه ايضا رضي الله عنه قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم يكثر السواك حتى ظننا او راينا انه سينزل عليه
It is also narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used the miswak so frequently that we began to think that soon a verse of the Qur'an would be revealed regarding it.

Hadith Number: 555
عن واثلة بن الاسقع رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((امرت بالسواك حتى خشيت ان يكتب علي))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wathilah bin Asqa’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:“I was commanded so much to use the miswak that I began to fear that it might be made obligatory.”

Hadith Number: 556
عن انس بن مالك رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم: ((اكثرت عليكم في السواك))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I have strongly emphasized to you the use of the miswak."

Hadith Number: 557
عن ابي امامة رضي الله عنه ان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: ((ما جاءني جبريل عليه السلام قط إلا امرني بالسواك، لقد خشيت ان احفي مقدم في))
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever Jibreel (peace be upon him) came to me, he instructed me to use the miswak. I began to fear that perhaps the front part of my mouth would be uprooted."

Hadith Number: 558
عن ابن عمر رضي الله عنه قال: رايت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم وهو يستن فاعطى اكبر القوم وقال: ((إن جبريل امرني ان اكبر))
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he says: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) using the miswak, then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave that miswak to the eldest person among the people and said: "Indeed, Jibreel (peace be upon him) has commanded me to give the miswak to the eldest person."
